  1. Careful... on Interviews: Ask James Randi About Investigating the Truth · · Score: 1

These aren't tricks. Tricks are for kids. Dogs do tricks.
I've met some stellar Magicians who have spent decades perfecting their own illusions and they call these effects. Some actually can become hostile to the suggestion of tricks. They may be forgiving, but I've met many masters who burn up inside. It's like calling a psychologist a shrink.

I never like it when people suggest pirating software as a form of protest, if you think the DRM is too intrusive, don't buy the game at all.

Isn't applying no-CD cracks a form or protest? If you irreparably scratch or damage your game disc and still have it installed, you either go out and buy a new copy to play or uninstall it, right?

Investigating a compromised system is one thing. I believe the GP was more about discovering that the system is compromised in the first place.

Precisely -- the system was immediately shut down, contents imaged and further investigation was done outside of that environment. I simply lucked out. This individual was sloppy and I found the rootkit later.

debsums is a nice utility to check this for you, granted that the attackers didn't modify the signing keys and installed their own package.

My local PBS station carries Mhz Worldview which carries Russia Today, Al Jazeera, France 25 and NHK World broadcasts. I welcome this move.

Hopefully we won't bomb their headquarters again like we did in Iraq. I can honestly say I get better, factual news from international sources about my own country than what CNN/MSNBC/Fox/ABC/CBS provides. It's pretty easy to see where the blackouts are when all the US networks won't cover one story but the international networks do.

Yet people are still pissed off because AJZ played Osama Bin Laden videos? I for one wanted to hear what he had to say. I think Americans deserve to hear all perspectives.
