    I'm sitting at a desk made during WW2 as I type this. It's made of thicker steel than most still running cars.

    And homes 100 years old were made from redwood beams a few inches apart and still hold up. But where are all the redwoods? Sure we could use massive amounts of resources to make 'unbreakable' things but we would use up our finite supply much sooner. Already if the entire planet consumed as much resources as America it would require 12 Earth's to fulfill the demand.

    The 'Propaganda' you refer to is generally about far-away places and events, and therefor any contrast with reality would not be apparent.

    No. American propaganda is alive and well but it has different goals. Korea is about obeying and serving your god-like leader. American is about consuming and consuming and is so successful that it's very difficult to get people to even see it.

    One good method is to go backpacking for a month. You'd be amazed at how obvious and vulgar it all is when you return to 'civilization'.

    The group with free trade shows much higher growth over any period you look at than does the group without free trade.

    Sure better growth but nature shows us that growth does not continue forever. We need to devise a sustainable economy not based solely on growth and consumption but one that will be there for our grandchildren. How do we do that? I have no idea but there are smart people out there than can figure this out and no shortage of people willing to put in the work needed to accomplish this. Maybe it's time to dump the status quo, quit propping up failed business models and figure something out.

    I don't waste my time worrying about chasing people around for violations of my sites' terms of service. Instead, I focus my efforts on deploying technical solutions that fix the issue.

    Shouldn't that be how we solve all social issues instead of just writing more laws?
