A simple solution to this dilemma: Never buy anything that has the word "Win" in it ;)

Just to play devils advocate, why not? I'm sure that people travelling back through time would understand the implications if they messed up the timeline in any way.

Man, what I wouldn't give to be able to have a few choices when it comes to high-speed internet. The cable company I go through basically has a monopoly on the high speed net service around here, and it doesn't look like that's going to change anytime soon... :(

  10. Palm IIIc on New Clie Handhelds · · Score: 1

I'm seriously considering getting a Sony Clie as my next handheld. I bought a Palm IIIc a year ago, and it gave me nothing but problems. I've also been hearing bad things things about the new Palm 5xx series. If you have an option to buy something like a Visor or Clie, buy one of those instead of a Palm.

  11. LOTR wasn't *that* good... on LoTR Takes 4 Oscars · · Score: 1

I mean, I know it's a classic trilogy, but COME ON, no need to go overboard like that...

  16. What? on Australia Rules DVD's are Films, Not Software · · Score: 3, Insightful

DVD's are a storage medium. They are what someone makes them to be (ie. Movie DVD's, Software DVD's, etc).

Trying to classify Movie DVD's as software is sort of... dumb.

The creator(s) of C++ tried to make it as backward-compatable with C as possible. But it's not 100% backwards-compatible.

For example, in C you didn't *have* to prototype your functions; the compiler would make some assumptions (which weren't always right :p). But in C++, you *must* prototype your functions.

That's just one example, I'm sure there are more though...
