There's a guy posting over on FuckedCompany.com. In each forum, he posts the same rant about "currys" and H1B taking over "our" economies and generally being responsible for US unemployment, particularly in the tech sector.
He's probably right, but the fault lies not in their privileged H1-B status, but in his laziness and expectation of entitlement.
The H1-B situation is exactly parallel to the Asian space race situation. Perhaps we as Americans pioneered manned space exploration. It was back in the days when we (nationally) were young and energetic. But that is no longer the case. We no longer have the nerve. Losing one man causes national agony, losing seven in Columbia resulted in weeks of "Is NASA Finished?" in the national press.
We no longer want to take risks. We no longer want to work hard. We just want to eat supersize meals and watch reality TV. It is not just Americans, but all of Europe and the Japanese who have reached or are reaching this state.
Hungrier (sorry) peoples are going to be taking over, and deservedly so. But we won't realize it until the images of Chinese taikonauts traipsing through the Apollo moon landing sites are broadcast, that we will understand.

I don't get it. The sole reason Macromedia is the size it is, is simply because Windows has no option to permanently refuse a web download.
In the old days, when you hit a site that has flash content, and you don't have it installed, it would try to install Flash. The dialog box has no option to permanently refuse Flash, so sooner or later everybody just gives in.
This policy allowed Macr to reach critical mass. Now brosers ship with Flash. Now you're telling me Microsoft is against Macr?

This means: 1) You sign up for a Hotmail account 2) You use it for some semi-serious business 3) You fail to login every month 4) Hotmail cancells your account 5) Your "competitor" signs up for a Hotmail account with your old username 6) Your "competitor" can receive mail intended for you, sent by your people who have not updated their address books.
Never, ever, under any circumstances, use Hotmail for mission critical correspondence.
Well, it's their drives filling with spam, not yours. If they do not want to screen gigs of spam, then they will have to lay out $$$ for more disks and get them online, back the spam up, etc.
If anyone uses the ATT Netmail service, (you get it if you have ATT dialup) the Brightmail screening service they use works very well. As of June 7 the screened mail is no longer saved, and I don't have a problem with the change, as there has not been one false positive in two years of active use.
I had to RMA a 75GXP after 4 mos. IBM gave back a 41GB drive. That still sets in the wrap -- I'm not going to use it. Of all the drives I have had (& I have used them since MFM and RLL days) ONLY the IBM's have failed. WD's seem to last -- my parts box is full of old working WD's. I have drives from companies no longer in business -- but the drives still work. But no IBM drive's made it to old age yet. It occurs to me that IBM's plants are too diversified. In my experience, IBM drives from Japan seem to stay together, the ones from Thailand fail fast, the ones from PI also, and the one from Hungary seized up tight after 6 mos. The same thing needs to happen with spam. With legislation to back them up, ISP's can impose an internet death penalty on spammers and their ISP's. End-users harmed by spam can take them to court or at least not fear when taking unilateral corrective action against a persistent spammer. However, when the information is entered he has a lead he can sell to a third party. Typical payout for a valid lead is $25 US. One well-designed YUO HAVE WON!!! SWEEPSTAEKS ENTRY FORM!!! spam to AOLers can gather literally hundreds of leads that check out.
Someone needs to write a program to fill out their entry forms with realistic, but false, information.
You know of course that your email address is in every reply to an administrator. So if the administrator also happens to be the Spammer (very common, in terms of percent of spam sent), you've just verified your email address. Your spamcop complaints are never read -- his bots rip emails from the complaints and spams them. Spamcop is no threat to spammers such as those on the ROKSO (spamhaus.org).
Also, avoid "third-party email removal services" like removeyou.com. These are supposed to take in spammer's lists to be "washed." I tried with a test address that averages 30 spams a day, and there was a slight initial drop off, but the spam has just catapulted in the last two weeks, to 45-60 spams per day, and with worse ones than usual (penis enlargement pills, etc.)
Many of the spams mention they belong to removeyou.com, so how come they are still spamming an address registered on removeyou.com.
Additionally, I believe they are sending their raw lists in to get "washed," and then simply comparing the washed lists with what comes back. The missing addresses are live.
I advocate taking unilateral corrective action - call their 1-800 numbers, send form replies full of gibberish (non-email of course), and whatever else that annoys and harrasses the spammer. I even modify their order pages (remove MAXLENGTH arguments) to send form responses as big as their server can take. Only 12 1/2 meg replies will fill up his free Yahoo! account. You can shut him down by yourself and he can't say a god damned thing!
