Humans have a tendency to be all about control. Organizations like the W.H.O. claim to be about human health but really have a global political agenda masquerading as health. See my other comment with regards to what I think about all this: https://science.slashdot.org/c...
..and we've been evolving into omnivores for at least a million years. You can't just decide you're going to be strict vegetarian and not expect to have health problems related to that. I seriously doubt this 'research' takes that into serious consideration. There are so many problems with this, I don't even know where to begin.
How about this: How about instead of screwing with people's diets, we create a timeline to eliminate fossil fuel use entirely, and stick to it? Also how about we stop destroying existing forests and start re-planting them? And start controlling our population growth, seeing as how the planet can clearly and objectively only support so many humans at once? For fucks sake people we don't need to be packed in shoulder to shoulder everywhere. Why do we need 10 BILLION people alive at the same time? Can we get the nutjob 'quiverfull' religious types to knock it the hell off? You don't need to have a dozen kids.
Don't tell me or anyone else what we should and should not read.
Now, that being said, if you want to tell people to think carefully about the validity of what they read, then that's something else entirely.
If your bill is late and they decide to pester you about it, they spoof your local prefix in the same way, so it's not just 'junk marketing' calls (although Comcast/Xfinity is 'junk' if you ask my opinion). Hope the levy nice hefty fines against them for that.
At any rate if I don't normally answer calls from numbers I don't recognize anyway, doubly so if it's in the same prefix as me, since that makes zero sense. As with many things I don't know why anyone would fall for this. Let everything you don't recognize go to voicemail, if it's important they'll leave a message to call back, if it's bullshit or it's not important they won't.
I had to look that up. Now I have a bruise on my forehead from *facepalm*ing so hard. There are actually people in this country who believe that nonsense? Do they actually believe, for instance, that they can get away with murdering someone, so long as they have a 'justification' for it?
They're not in the least hurting for money but of course they have to have all the money. Then when they have everything so locked-down and monopolized they'll just raise the prices on everything, or worse: they'll try to convince everyone that paying every month forever for 'streaming' is somehow better. Yeah well fuck them no wonder people still pirate music.
When is everyone going to get sick and tired enough of everything you do being surveiled tracked and logged that you finally say 'enough is enough'?
Also I'm so glad I never shop at Walmart.
So you're claiming you have 12 million people that are okay with a stranger at a store picking out their meat and produce for them? I don't believe you.
Well, you might think that. You might be wrong. Humans have a lot of experience driving in snow and stuff. Yes, there are a lot of really funny videos of what happens on icy roads, but I don't think an AV can deal with zero traction on a hill any better than a human could.
Damned thing will probably just park itself and call it's 'remote human operator', or just call 911 or something. Too stupid to figure it out because it has no ability to think.
I don't want a supermarket employee picking my groceries for me, and I sure as FUCK don't want some Uber asshole touching anything I'm going to eat either. Who the hell comes up with this shit? Who the hell uses this shit?
Listen you dumb shit.. am I supposed to wait a year or two to see any movie so I can buy it on DVD and never go to a theatre? Does Redbox charge me a monthly fee or a one-time fee to borrow a goddamned disk? You are paying every month for something you may or may not use, and you don't get to keep ANYTHING, you only get it as long as you keep paying and paying and paying, month after month.
Meanwhile HOAs have gone out of their way for at least 20 years now to make it difficult for people to own a home. Banks do an end-run around anti-discrimination laws to lend to only certain people regardless of how good someone's credit and income are, keeping them on the rental treadmill. Companies like Microsoft want to RENT your OS and Apps instead of you buying copies you can use the next 10 years. Microsoft and other companies want you to STREAM games instead of owning copies of them. Vehicles get more and more expensive and they want you to LEASE them, but still pay for all the resposibilities of owning them. 'Services
like Uber and Lyft discourage you to have a car at all, and just RENT a ride. Streaming 'services' discourage you from owning your own music and movies, tricking you into paying month after month ad infinitum, and if they stop offering something you like the tough shit, it's GONE. Same with Netflix; there's a movie or show you want to see and they decided not to have it anymore? Tough shit for you, you get what you get and you'd better like it. LOOK AROUND YOU, THIS IS GOING ON EVERYWHERE.
Wake the fuck up already. Corporations, who are owned and operated by The Rich, don't want us peons owning ANYTHING of value, they want to suck every penny out of us they possibly can, forever. Why can't you see you're being taken advantage of?
So let me get this straight: you want me to protest and act out against government surveillance programs by providing some website with a picture of myself?
What, you're not going to ask me for my drivers license, social security number, credit card info, and bank account info, too?
Here's how I see this so far: If it's all true, then Apple and anyone else would be nuts to just blab about it all to the media right away, because if it is true then it means not only a gigantic percentage of the Internet in general is compromised, it also means that critical infrastructure is compromised, as well as government and the military, and not just here in the U.S., but in every 1st-world country, and anywhere else in the world, too. There'd be a panic, and rightly so, because it would mean someone out there almost literally has a Big Red Button they could press and bring everything to it's knees. Think 'cyber-doomsday weapon'.
I don't need to buy movies every month. In fact it's been at least a year since I bought any DVDs. I buy copies of things I know I want around to watch again. Most movies and TV shows I watch exactly once. TV is free (for me, LOL) and going to a movie theatre is so much better than watching it on a TV screen. For movies that don't warrant going to a theatre, paying $1 or $1.50 for Redbox is a great deal. I listen to FM broadcast radio so I pay nothing for that. But do go right ahead and keep letting your 'streaming' services bleed you dry, I'm sure they give you a nice kiss on your forehead and tell you what a Good Boy you are. Also go get yourself a pocket calculator at the Dollar Store since it seems either your math is bad, or your attention span is so short that you forget from month to month how much you're bleeding out of your wallet for all your ridiculuous unnecessary 'streaming services' and all the extra internet bandwidth you need to pay for to use them. No wonder the rest of the world thinks us Americans are stupid when there are so many of you who do stupid shit like this. You probably voted for Trump and wear a MAGA hat everywhere (do I hear banjos?)
How much do they pay you to astroturf for the corporations that want everyone to forget about owning things? Do they pay you by the word, the post, or is it a monthly stipend?
I buy few movies and when I do I watch them enough times to justify it. I also have BOOKS and (shocking!!!) READ THEM MORE THAN ONCE. You own enough books, movies, and music, and eventually it's all like it's new again. Or I guess you can be a fool who has to pay EVERY SINGLE TIME you want to watch or listen to something. I think you people are fucking stupid, flat-out, and these corporations are laughing at you all the way to the bank. You probably also think that fast food burgers are cheaper than making your own and somehow just as healthy. LOL you're ridiculous.
Go research 'feudalism' and 'sharecropper' and tell me there aren't parallels. Also you sit there and tell me that never owning a home, never having the value of that home to borrow against, is somehow better. You're being taken for a fool and you don't even realize it because you only think in the short term.
Oh but Tim, don't you know the new hotness is to rent EVERYTHING in your life? 'Owning things' is SO Last Thursday! Owning things is what OLD PEOPLE who still think AOL is 'the internet'! You do't want people to think you're an OLD PERSON do you? </sarcasm>
In all seriousness: I think this is what The Rich and Corporations want: make everyone believe that renting everything and owning nothing is somehow better. Lease a car or pay Uber/Lyft all the time, rent your house, rent your computer, rent your OS and applications, and so on. That way you pay, pay, PAY forever, making The Rich richer. Glad to see you aren't falling for it.
Worse: why waste any time on this when climate change is being ignored, and we're well on the way to a slow extinction-level event for us anyway? Unless hearts and minds of 7,000,000,000 people are all changed more or less simultaneously, nothing is going to save us.
Humans have a tendency to be all about control. Organizations like the W.H.O. claim to be about human health but really have a global political agenda masquerading as health. See my other comment with regards to what I think about all this: https://science.slashdot.org/c...

Fuck the police, I do what I want. xD
I chuckle at this, but sardonically.

Grocery stock people aren't picking my meat and produce that I'm taking home, genius.

All I can say is: if they approve this, invest in body-bag companies, you'll literally make a killing.
