I think you must be thinking of 'quantum tunneling' as I have not seen anything lately that would suggest X-Rays travel FTL. Or perhaps you were confused with theories dealing with accretion disks and X-Ray beacons and their relationship with black holes. Neither of which are saying X-Rays can/are capable of traveling FTL.

It is even possible you have access to other sources of information, but I would think an assertion of a relatively common particle/ray/quanta traveling FTL would be big enough news to be widely disseminated.

Sure, I can't touch it, or put it in a jar, but that does not mean it isn't mine if I paid for it - and continue to renew the domain name when it comes up for renewal.

Is this another licensing thingy, where you are not the owner of the property, just being allowed to license it from the true owner - in which case it is still owned by someone, and therefore is property, or perhaps rental of database space? What about IP rights, would those apply - again, implying the domain name is property.

I would guess there is some slippery lawyer interpertation that will be introduced, and hope someone can explain it to me...

If you take 30Hz motion and display in 60Hz interlaced there will be visible steps rather than smooth movement. (Doing the oposite and displaying a 60Hz interlaced motion at 30Hz is going to produce even worse artifacts.)

Many wireless frequencies DO interfere, but not all. We (and many other hospitals) currently use wireless laptops in patient care areas routinely.

Emergency personnel are allowed to use their two way radios, and we use cell phones for contacting nurses and ancillary services (lab, Resp. Therapy, EKG, etc.), but general public two way radios and cell phones are requested to be turned off / not used while in the hospital as they CAN cause interference.

On the other hand, part of the licensing of the deviced requires that they "not interfere with other devices, and accept any interference generated by other devices" - specifically originating from medical devices - we also use microwave ovens on all floors and in patient care areas, even those using "sensitive medical equipment."

I think this is doubleplus ungood. The networks have a contract to provide 'eyeballs' at a certain rate (based on Neilson ratings which is why they have sweeps week - to increase the number of people watching at specific times so their ad revenues are increased. VERY basicly dishonest, as the numbers of people tuning in for some extra-exciting episode or special event is not representetive of the numbers at other times.), and the TIVO/RePlay PVRs undercut their bargaining position. Instead of estimating that 35% of the estimated number of viewers will get up to use the head, raid the refridgerator, nail teh old lady, or surf the net, they now have to add that another 40% will likely 'comercial skip' (note that the numbers were pulled out of my ... uh .. ear and have no relation to reality!), thereby reducing the amount the networks can charge for air time. Yes, not watching the comercials is theft - the NETWORKS are taking unearned money by not delivering TO THE ADVERTISERS what they (the networks) contracted to deliver - eye balls in contracted numbers.

    Yup, you are wrong.

I am diabetic, and I check my blood glucose levels. I use a small portion of one drop of blood. For each test, the population of the test is ONE, and the volumn of the sample is small. I (and my doctor) still trust the results, because the test is STANDARDIZED, i.e., if such-and-so procedure is followed, and you use these strips in this machine which has been shown to give the following value when used with that specific control solution, the results will correlate closely with independent lab analysis of a much larger sample.

In the hospital, the Blood Glucose Monitoring machine used on the floors is required to be calibrated (checked against known solutions) at least daily, and preferably more frequently. This means I may not check a CBG (capillary Blood Glucose) for several weeks, but when I do, the test will give a result that correlates well with 'actual' (determined by any laboratory) values.

I work for a hospital (in IT now, but I am a LPN as well and worked in patient care for several years), and a considerable cost in the lab is the "control solutions" needed to check that the machine is giving the same results to a known solution as other labs. I would assume a major concern is/was that physicians would not run the controls as frequently as independent labs do (due to the costs) and would therefore have invalid results on which they were basing their decisions - maybe to the detriment of the patient.

    >>Compare this to Nielsen surveying only twenty people, or Gallup only a hundred.

Better yet, compare this to Nielsen or Gallup surveying only a few thousand and then stating what millions of people NOT surveyed were doing/thinking/watching - which happens so frequently it is not often thought about, and shows that, if valid techniques and procedures are used, the results can be amazingly accurate and usable.
