I don't WATCH 40 shows a week, but if I RECORD 40 shows a week, I have that much more choice of WHAT to watch. Before I got a Tivo, I just recorded my usual evening shows when I was busy and watched them later. Now, I record my evening shows, shows that air when I'm at work, and shows that air when I'm sleeping. Most of those shows get deleted to make room for new stuff, but I have more choices of which stuff to watch.
The 2.4 kernel wasn't REALLY stable until 2.4.18. Some people used them with no problems, but other people DID have problems. Currently, 2.4.23 is a safe choice. 2.6.0 MIGHT be okay, but I would NOT put it on a business machine until its been out long enough to iron out the bugs.
I suppose it doesn't really matter if we have a Gnome standard, as long as KDE continues to be developed and improved. If, IMO, Gnome actually overtakes KDE, I can switch to it. If not, who says I have to use the "standard" anyway.
They don't have to drive M$ out of business, but they DO need enough marketshare to keep M$ from driving THEM out of business! It would be great if hardware vendors had to make sure their crap actually works with Linux.
And what happened to all the people who died *before* Christ and didn't even know about him? Are they all burning in hell from being born at the wrong time?
For that matter, what about the poor babies who die shortly after birth? Are they burning in Hell?
I suggest going out and finding a couple of people who plan on voting for him and explaining your point of view in a non-antagonistic way. If enough of us do this (and they have open minds) it just might work
We also need a viable conservative alternative. Many conservatives aren't too thrilled with Bush, but absolutely will NOT vote for a radical liberal Democrat! Unfortunately, I don't think the Democrat party could accept a conservative Dem.
Unfortunately for your cold, dead hands the current state of the US Military is such that it could pretty easily resist a popular uprising. For example: Iraq. The main body of resistance would be uprooted and the rest reduced to piddling attacks which, while annoying, would not upset the current regime.
Funny, the "piddling attacks" in Iraq ARE upsetting the current regime. If the US can't keep order there, imagine trying to keep order in a vastly larger country, and more important, maintaining Big Business (tm) in such a condition of "piddling attacks".
Actually, if you've got Klingons coming at you, the LAST thing you want to do is admit that you're in no shape to handle them. Whether it's true or not!
I can tune out chatter from the next cube. I could NOT tune out people chattering almost in my ear, nor could I work effectively while people are actually talking to me!
I agree! My first month in HS really sucked. I was skinny, I wore glasses, and I was a nerd! I got hassled constantly - at first. But the bullying ended, as they learned that I could and did fight back. I didn't win every fight, but I never backed down either. The bullies soon moved to easier targets.
Actually, I was the one who got called "Four eyes", "NerdBoy", "Dorkface". No, it wasn't pleasant, but I just called them "Neanderthals" and similar insults. I just didn't let that bother me. *glances down at shoes*
The problem is, many people don't WANT Debian unstable. They want something more current than Debian stable, but something that doesn't change as often as unstable (and presumably Fedora).
Or turn it around. Software is way too important to have a single point of failure. What if the Terrorists (tm) wipe out Redmond! We need software that isn't dependent on ONE company.
Yes, people still use COBOL. In fact I'm still using COBOL! And while COBOL WAS designed, in part, so middle managers could, in theory, understand the programs (quit laughing), it's far from dead. Judging by the problems we're currently having trying to convert to Java, my grandchildren will probably be using COBOL.
Get real! Everyone knows kernels should be coded in COBOL!

But what if you have a show on another channel between 9-10PM. Tivo will miss one of them.
But do you gotta catch em all? Oops, wrong slogan!
I agree! I refuse to step into a "Big Bob's" until they cook & eat that annoying bird that "cheaps" all the time!
OMG! The BSD section is dying!

Because of the hell we'll have to go through first! Nobody is in any hurry for that!
For that matter, what about the poor babies who die shortly after birth? Are they burning in Hell?
I once said that a trained chimp could take the White House - and the Dems won't even reach that standard!

I agree! Neither of the two political parties give a damn about the American people. The Dems are every bit as evil and power-hungry as the Repubs!

It's easy to supply power to a country that doesn't have air conditioners.

I don't know if RH was MARKETING to home users, but a great many home users bought it. Now those users have to go to SuSe or Mandrake.

Mandrake, Debian, Slackware, Fedora, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, and the entire content of sourceforge?
