    On my current car, and the car I had before, my Cruise Control's lower limit was 25, not 19. My GF says hers is 35! That doesn't mean I can't drive on the 25 MPH streets, but I can't rely on the cruise control for that.

    IME, Win10 is the least stable Windows since the DOS based versions. On my desktop, it borked my internet, though that was actually a good thing, since it gave me an excuse to switch to Ubuntu. On my laptop, the video driver keeps hiccuping, and if I close the lip without manually putting it into sleep, I get a f**dup screen and have to reboot.

    My phone is one of the few devices that actually have broken. Mainly because I carry it everywhere, and it eventually falls out of my pocket, and sooner or later, one of those falls does some damage.

    OTOH, I don't think I've had a laptop break since the turn of the century, and I've NEVER had a desktop or tablet break. They might become "obsolete", but they don't break.

    1. False equivalence. Just because Hilliary is unelectable doesn't mean that Trump is not also unelectable.

    That brings up an interesting question. What happens when two unelectable people are running against each other? Is it like the classic "irresistible force" vs the "immovable object"?

    Oddly enough, I don't think I've ever looked at pr0n on my phone. Now if they hacked my PC, that would be different.

    When I think of Trump in the big chair, I think about a JLA Unlimited epsode where Lex Luthor says, "Do you know how much power I'd give up to be President?". Even if you agree with Trump's ideas, they're not going to happen. OTOH, the people who swear Trump will destroy the country are wrong too, for the same reason.

    I did time-shifting long before it was "cool". Though, even a poor DVR is a lot better than the olde VCR.

    Oh, that's easy---same reasons as why pretty much everyone everywhere is learning English in addition to their native/national language.

    (It's not because English is such a well-designed or easy-to-learn language...)

    Yeah, the world languages tend to have military/economic clout. The day bumpy headed aliens come to Earth with phasers & dilithium is the day the Klingon language gains global importance.

    Even if all Esperanto speakers were "zealots" (in my experience, it's only a small percentage), how does that in any way present an "obstacle" to learning and using the language?

    Mouth-frothing zealots, whether it's for Esperanto, Macs, or even Linux (though the last might be justifiable ;) ) tend to turn normal people off. If you annoy someone, they're much less receptive to what you're preaching about.

    Absolutely! I've never had the pipes burst, but I did have some freezing, and that was in a house with working heat. There was a cold snap where the temp dropped from near 70F to near 0F in a 24 hour period, and the pipes closest to the outside wall froze. Luckily, it wasn't enough to break anything.

  21. I want my car to get me from point A to point B reliably and safely. Beyond that, it's nice if it has some form of GPS (mine doesn't) and the ability to make & receive phone calls (I can receive them, but making them is more trouble than it's worth). That's about the extent of the bells & whistles I want in my car.

    At my workplace, there are two lines. One for "cash only", the other accepts CC, but only for $3 and over (not really an issue as it's very hard to get much for less than that). Unfortunately the line is usually longer in the CC line, so I save time by darting into the cash line, and usually get more pennies in change. :(

    I was a "free range" kid long before that term existed. I'm not sure about kindergarten, but from first grade (6 y/o) on, I walked to school. I was walking all over the neighborhood before I was 10, and it wasn't even the best neighborhood for that.
