I liked the VentureStar project and I was very sad when they cancelled it. The aerospike engines are really promising, and the idea of just having 1 spacecraft for liftoff is a good idea. No External tank and no Solid rocket booster. Hope NASA can revive the project that is in the Military hands now
I Agree, you can ont compare a mature hardware and software(drivers) to a beta hardware and software. It is insane to do so. I afraid that we all need to wait until the final gFX card and drivers are out.
It depends on which country you live: a 1st or 3rd world country. - In the case of a 1st world country, >50% of the money goes for paying humans. Because tech is cheap(they invented it) and human salaries are high.
- In the case of the 3rd world country, >50% goes for the infrastructure(hardware, telco, satellite bw, etc). Thats because all prices are in dollars and a poor countrys can not compete with the strong dollar. Blame globalization or whatever, but thats the truth, at least here.
For example, here, a 32kbps 24x7 Internet conection cost 100$ per month. The minimum salary is about 120$ a month. Do the math. (New offer, pay with credit card and you get 64kbps per 100$)
The Radeon 8500 only beat the GF3 on some areas, while the 9700 beat the GF4 in almost all areas. Also, the GF4 was released only a few months after the 8500, so, we can not say that the 8500 beat Nvidia at that time.
I know Gamecube is powered by ATI, but Nvidia released 3 chipset releases: Xbox, nForce and nForce2. ATI stoped in the Gamecube in that area.
Thanks for the link.
I think we will have to wait until febuary to see, as my topic says:-)
I know that right now ATI is beating Nvidia's GF4 series. But remember that this is the first time ATI beat Nvidia in a long time. That mainly because Nvidia got involved in the Xbox development and later in the chipset arena with nForce. I don't know whats the roadmap for RV350 is, but if they release the RV350 in march of something, then this will be a real battle between both giants. I mean a "real Battle" because now ATI has the change the beat Nvidia every 8months or so. But, if the NV30 is too much superior than the RV3x0, then, ATI will have wait a couple of years to beat Nvidia again. This will be an interesting topic to watch in 2003:-)
The NV30 will beat the 9700 Pro in every benchmark, just wait. I have been reading articles and previews about the NV30 and it will definitelly beat the 9700. One field that ATI has never beat Nvidia is the driver field. Nvidia has better stability/installation/upgrade features than ATI has. Also, Nvidia has Official Drivers for Linux since years ago, and that is a feature that we all wants.
But I think that competion is good for all of us, the consumers.
Gamespot does not get it, they choose a game port as the GOTY on PC! Come on, it is suposed that the GOTY be a new and original game released in 2002.:-( Gamespy choosed a sequel and its a good sequel too. Also, they really make a point for the GOTY choice.
It seems that Gamespot are only console fanatics because they choose a console game ported to the PC for their GOTY for PC. This is a sad, sad decision. But, at least we still have smart reviews on Gamespy!:-)

If you are an admin for a corporate or for a big cuantity of users that used Windows, then you will love RedHat 8.0. In the other hand, if you like to have a desktop with all the special effects that KDE has, then Mandrake is for you. Also remember that Mandrake is build on top of RedHat, or at least it was. KDE is just one more desktop out there, whats the big deal?

RedHat is not a showcase of desktops, it has to provide simple and common look desktop for corporate users. If Bero quits for this, then I think he make a bad decision. Come on, quiting at RedHat only for this? Working for RedHat is a dream job! If you want a fullblown KDE desktop, just download the damn.rpm from www.kde.org If you want Linux to be in the Corporate world, install RedHat 8.0
I'm with RedHat this time, because it is working on standards, and standards *are* good!

Because RedHat won the Distro War. That simple. Also, RedHat was here before all of those 4. Do I use RedHat?:-) But, if I can download UnitedLinux for free, it should be fine.
Many Germany player were wearing a t-shirt, after the game, saying: "See you in Germany 2006". It was kind of cool. Brazil plays a great football, good game!
