  1. Why the HE double hockey sticks would you send a car into outer space. This is the dumbest idea ever.

  2. Daylight Saving Time in the USA on Lithuania Calls On EU To Stop Adjusting Clocks For Daylight Savings (theguardian.com) · · Score: 0

Yes, leave it on Daylight Saving Time all year round. The long summer nights with the sun out until 10pm is great! Sport Lovers, Campers, and Outdoor People Love it. I like it that way too, you get a lot done in those evening hours.

  3. I am Surprised People Still Print on Ask Slashdot: Do You Print Too Little? · · Score: 1

I am shocked and surprised that people still print. My family and friends and most of the people I have met don't print at all. Anything I have to print and I mean absolutely have to print I print to a folder I called "Virtual Printer" as a PDF. If I need that to go with me somewhere I just send it to my phone. There is no need to have a paper copy of it. If someone needs a copy I email it to them. Again this amazes me, I have been doing this for 6 years now and 3 or 4 years for everyone else. At my work we don't print at all, in fact there are no printers for the last 4 years, anything that needs to be circulated is sent by email. I really assumed printing was a thing of the past.

  4. Out of my many many many contacts NO ONE uses Microsoft Store. I don't see this as a problem. If you want Chrome just download it as simple as that.

  5. Stupid Move T-Mobile on T-Mobile Is Becoming a Cable Company (engadget.com) · · Score: 1

T-Mobile is dumb I cut the cord and don't have TV at all. I thought I couldn't live without it but I have found that it was the best decision I ever made. Not only am I saving $300 US a month I don't have to watch commercials anymore. Netflix and all the local channels stream for free, and guess what NO commercials (I think they don't show commercials because you can watch anywhere in the world and they want to be paid for that). So why would I pay for TV again? Cable companies have missed not only the boat but the whole ship on this one. Instead of raising the price every 6 months and taking channels away (especially the ones I watch), they should have been lowering the price to keep us. They send me a begging letter every month trying to get me to go back. No you idiots, just because I can have it at $100 US a month for 12 months (then back to $300) is still a bad deal with 8 minute commercial breaks now-a-days and the start and end of the show in a tiny window while they play more commercials and the extreme cost!!! NO NO NO NO I say. TV is dead!

  6. How is this better? They will use a lot of fossil fuel produce the batteries. It is a nightmare to dispose of the batteries when they go bad. .And they are recharged with power made with fossil fuel. Beyond Stupid.

  7. Big corporations and government want you to think that EV are much better for the environment and that is why you should buy one. That is why there are tax breaks for them. But it is all a lie. The REAL reason EVs are promoted is because it is a hot topic in the public and wink wink good for the environment. If you think about it you are only trading one fossil fuel for another or possibly the same fuel. EV cars need to be charged where do you think that electricity comes from mostly coal and other fossil fuels. So buying and EV does nothing to help reduce the use of fossil fuels. On top of that they are the worst land vehicle build for the environment. Making batteries is bad for the environment, disposing of bad batteries is extremely bad for the environment. Some EVs go back and forth across the ocean several times to be built. The ships that move those vehicles back and forth are worse on the environment than any land vehicle. 8. Comcast Blocking BitTorrent Isn't Right on Ajit Pai and the FCC Want It To Be Legal for Comcast To Block BitTorrent (theverge.com) · · Score: 1

Ok so some people use BitTorrent for illegal means, however it is also used for many other LEGAL means. I use it to get my Linux Distos that is the fastest way to download them. Also my paid legal backup system uses BitTorrent to transfer my 5TB of files to my 5 locations and keep my backup in the cloud. I use this backup system because it works very well and it is cheaper than others because they leverage BitTorrent. My multi camera video surveillance system at all 5 locations uses yup you guessed it uses BitTorrent to keep my video data off site for review as needed and also so I can view live video on my cameras on my smart phone no matter where I am. Next I use BitTorrent to sync my files from my office computer to my home computer and my laptop so I always have my current files. Unfortunately Comcast is the only internet provider in several of the places I have my business. So Comcast is going to cripple my legal use of BitTorrent because some people use it for illegal means. That's like making all cars illegal because some people use them to rob banks!!! Holy Crap, please Comcast don't block BitTorrent you will break 75% of how my business works!!!!

The 1000 jobs, well that turns out to be about 100 maximum. It gets worse, the skills needed for those 100 jobs are specialized which means that most of the positions will be hired out of state or worse out of country. Worst decision ever!!!!

Awesome choice, but can we replace the whole cast. The Doctor, Peter Capaldi is alright, not great but just alright. But the rest of the cast with him are horrible. Very bad actors and just don't work for the parts. I truly miss Jenna Coleman, fantastic actress and perfect for the part.

  13. Re:What is Up with Intel on Intel To Cut IoT Jobs (electronicsweekly.com) · · Score: 1

In fact I do have industry knowledge. Work with Intel's engineers a lot. What you may not know is that Intel and AMD were in a CPU war for many years. Then AMD started moving to GPU because it was losing the CPU war, Intel kept a close eye AMD's GPUs and kept up with the technology all these years. I wouldn't be very hard for Intel to tool up and make High End GPUs.

  16. Missing Parts of the Story on Data Glitch Sets Tech Company Stock Prices At $123.47 (theverge.com) · · Score: 2

Soooo missing a big part of the story....so if someone bought a lot of Google or Apple stock at $123.47 and the price goes back to what it really was, do they get the keep the stock at the correct price? The person bought in good faith, and provided real money to do so, and we have to have FULL confidence in the way stock is purchased or the whole system collapses. If someone bought stock at the wrong price unknowingly, the people that posted the wrong price need to be responsible for posting the wrong price and make good. I watch stocks closely and when I see a large dip I buy, it would really piss me off if they came back to me and said "opps we posted test pricing, so your purchases are invalid" no, you posted wrong prices you are responsible to make good on that.

  17. What is Up with Intel on Intel To Cut IoT Jobs (electronicsweekly.com) · · Score: 1

Intel really needs to get it together, they are a CPU company and GPUs are tall the rage right now and you cannot buy a decent video card, out of stock and the companies cannot keep up with the demand. Intel could very simply make GPU cards (AMD does) and make a billion dollars over night and save the jobs of these hard working people. Just pisses me off they cut jobs instead of making what is needed and keeping the staff working.

  19. Maybe they will finally drop the price of cars. They have become outrageous over the years.1970 average income $22,000 a year, average car price $3800, 2017 average income $65,000 a year average car price $45,000. See the problem car prices have exploded over the years nearly 10 times more expensive. Auto makers need to severely drop the price. Also we don't need dealerships anymore, I am beyond tired of spending 4 to 6 hours buying a car because you have to haggle over the price, the contract, and the pressure to buy this extra that extra the extra extra warranty, the maintenance plan, the plus plus plus maintenance plan. Now they take your keys away even if you are not trading something in as a way to trick you into buying a car. While you are thinking about the new car let us wash yours, then they never give you the keys back as they wear you down to buy a car. I finally had to call the police and they gave me the keys back. No wonder no one wants to buy a car. Come on Auto makers, let us by a car on line direct from the factory for 60% to 70% less, skipping all the overhead, and direct ship it. We are an online world now-a-days.

  23. Are the idiots that made this change also going to make it so it just works! So you don't have to activate it, force it work without all the security locks! Are they going to add all the parts you need without having to go find them all over the internet and install them. MS should make every part of PowerShell part of the load. I hate having to go and get the Exchange parts when I need to do something on a machine that is don't normally work on. Until MS can get their act together with PowerShell they will have to do stuff like this and ram it down our throats instead of fixing it and making it work correctly. Pisses me off.
