Yeah, just think of sex/masterbation. It doesn't screw up your brain cells or your physical body, but it induces a pleasurable high so of course you're going to want more. Same for chocolate and so on.
I just installed itunes on my w2k machine and whenever i try to do things with the music store, ie create a login or bring up their main site I get an out of memory error. I have 256MB ram with 1GB virtual memory and I usually hover about 300MB memory usage, nothing else complains though.
The problem is that these transfers were not done using general purpose protocols. They are all highly tweaked protocols, even if TCP/IP, that are customized to the hardware and pipes the data will transfer over. This will never be feasible for a home user. It's all just for show, it's not practical.
The thing is that while the internet2 was supposed to be a research tool, it is actually being used for high bandwidth data transfers from academic units. This happens so much that it actually hinders networking research to an extent.
My prof talked about this in my networking class. Apparantly they tweaked the hell out of the data link layer to do this, so it was not a generic data transfer at all.
When CVS and other stores realized that all that was happening with they oxycontinal (sp?) was that it was being stolen they then removed it from their stores. The point is that if the main usage of something is illegal, then whats the point of having the device?
The problem is all these companies know their software is being used to pirate others works. Yes you can use it to DL legal software, but the wide vast majority of stuff transfered is all copyrighted, and everyone knows this. They are basically selling piracy software, since they know ppl are going to use it to pirate.
FTP is different, it is used a lot for completely legit reasons, it just happens to be usable to pirate too. While the concepts are similar the end effectual uses are much different. If Kazaa etc want to sell licenses for software that isn't going to be used to pirate, then they should put locks in on the directory searching service to block out obviously copyrighted material.
Well this will at least show how robust MS can be when changes _have_ to happen.
I personally like IE, I used to like netscape, then netscape started sucking and IE was better to me, blah blah blah, but this could hurt IE's market share if they aren't able to implement these changes effectively and with transparancy.
I dunno the conditions but my Inspiron has been tethered to it's AC power for a while because of a dead battery, and if I slide my finger over the speaker slits I'll get a small shock. I'm guessing it's only after I scuffle around the carpet a bit though.
Why not just use Spam Gourmet? It allows you to make disposable email addresses that forward to your main address. The addresses are unique based on a key word which helps you know where your spam came from.
Yeah, that was the only concern I had with thee service, though I don't use it for much other than registrations on various sites, not for public stuff. watchword seems like a good idea.
Can we actually assume that the base OS is actually included in the $900+/comp. price? I think it's a little premature to assume so. Something not mentioned though is that this probably covers OS and software upgrades which can be expensive potentially
I wonder if this basically is some sort of site license for all MS products for the Army.
I'm curious if there will soon be a system to judge the really close calls of tagging someone out at the base. Like someone sliding into 2nd as the 2nd baseman is stretched into the air receiving a throw from outerfield, or the runner and shortstop, with ball, running to make it to 2nd first. Some of these can be splitt second calls.
Wow, now you can see all your different open porn windows at once! Go technology. ;)
I think that last one is either wrong or way way in the future.
not every song is going to be redeemed so it doesn't make any sense that they would pay for the songs that don't get bought.
I bet they try and tie it into the gift certs somehow, so that they get auto created upon redemption and McDonald's only charged for what is used.
According to last nights Smallville it affects those from Krypton. Watch out all you Kryponites
so why shouldn't it work fot the gator?

Ha, I don't have norton but I think it may have been my mcafee virus scan or my pop up blocker :P

Isn't this kind of a form of scare tactics? "Get it now, from us, or you may never be able to get it"

iPods don't seem to care about movement at all. I'm really amazed though. People jog with them.

You should check out Spam Gourmet instead of creating whole yahoo or hotmail accounts. It has worked really well for me.
That's not his email address. sorry. ;)

Monday, June 23 was a big day for Microsoft's mobile devices software strategy.
What do you mean was? It's still before 7am in Redmond, and only approaching 10am on the east coast. Sounds more like marketing.

I wonder if they engineered them to taste like chicken.
