My former employer was the victim of their own ignorance... erm, I mean the victim of a phishing scheme and lost about $2-million - fortunately they got most of it back, unfortunately they had to lay a bunch of us off because of it. Afterwards, they sued the bank.
In fact, it was a text add I saw while googling something (strange how "google" has become a verb now-a-days), that lead me to start building a PC for my car. I forgot what I was googling for, but one of the text adds caught my attention, when all was said and done I ended up at http://www.opussolutions.com/ where they sell a kick ass DC power supply. A couple hundred bucks and a few weeks later and I had a Mini-ITX computer in the trunk of my ION powering an Ir controlled mp3 player and streaming DivX movies to a 6" LCD display. Now don't get me wrong, I'm about one of the most anti-marketing people you'll ever meet. I refuse to buy clothing with logos on them because I do not want to be a walking bill-board. Hrm, pay 80 bucks to wear a shirt that advertises Tommy-Hilfiger, or pay 20 bucks to have my own name imprented on a 3 dollar shirt.;) But never the less, I'm more inclined to read a 30 character text add than some frigging Providian VISA banner that takes up 30% of my browser realestate and shakes vigorously to get my damned attention, I'm sure alot of you have seen that one.
I was watching one of my employees play this game at work one morning and all I noticed were glitches and bugs.
The one that I loved the most I had him take a screenshot of... check it out
here.
I'm sure you'll get a kick out of it.
Think they'll fix these sort of things in the linux version?
Actually, that blur you see is the side of the box, not the front. Pay close attention to the placement of everything as you look at the differant pictures. The side of the box seems to be made of "water glass", at least that is what I have heard it called. It's the plastic that doors to showers are made of.
Spamassassin has its' own feature for this called whitelisting, as well as blacklisting. whitelisted email address ALWAYS make it thru no matter what score, while blacklisted email addresses NEVER make it thru. That's why I have my wife whitelisted and my boss blacklisted.....or is it the other way 'round?
Spamassassin
Okay, so that's more like 6 words, but still it's great. A guy I work with turned me onto it and I love it. And adding a `spamassassin -r` in my procmailrc for known_spam gives me the feeling that I'm actually doing my part in preventing SPAM.
Well actually, there is a big warning there now. Maybe it was your link to it, or the slashdo story all-together, but it plainly states now:
On 21 December, ZDNet posted a story reporting the preliminary results of this poll, which showed a large majority of respondents who said they planned to deliver applications via Web services by the end of 2002 favoured Java for the job. At the time, Java outranked.Net by a factor of three in this poll. By early January, the position had reversed; the results are shown here. An investigation indicated that Microsoft employees used vote-rigging to distort the results. The full story can be found here.
For the life of me, I can_not remember any other suit reguarding anti-trust where the company at fault has held so much leverage in chosing its own punishment. Doesn't this defeat the purpose? Or is Microsoft so powerful and so influentiul (sp?) that they seem to be above the law?
Who else believes that by the time this is all said and done that Microsoft will have had NO reprocusions whatsoever?
Disclaimer: I have nbo hatred for Microsoft lik most people do, I've never been "forced" to use it. so I'm not baching here, I'm just curious. And yes, I know my spelling sucks, I'm lazy.
I hate being the first person to make a paranoid post. But could the community *really* trust Microsoft to make a safe port of Office to Linux? With all the hidden hatred (as well as public FUD) that they have for Linux, I'd honestly be scared to run a closed source microsoft product on any of my machines.
No this is not flamebait, nor a troll, it's a legit concern I've had ever since I heard someone mention IE5 for linux a while back.
I already have one, it's called my palm pilot. I can play the latest games on it, mine sweeper, whel of fortune, hangman. What else would someone need?
As if you can really get into a good game of Quake on a small device like that.
It's really sad when a company has to go out of business or stop doing somehting because they do their job the right way. It seems the only way to keep afloat anymore is being dirty handed. I'm not a Microsoft basher, but just look at them for christs sake! The more crooked a piece of sh*t you are the further you get.

Me: Okay, I'll be down to pick one up tomorrow, thanks.
Yevette: Thank you for calling Target blah blah blah.
What do you mean you have to kill for them?
This is true, I actually called today before leaving work.
I once heard that OS/2 was a big thing for ATM machines. At that one of the reasons OS/2 will not go Open Source, at least for a while, has to do with that. Well, that and the fact that in Europe OS/2 is still used for controls of scientific machines and support contracts still hasn't run out.
Can anyone verify this? I've done a little looking on the regular search engines and come up with nothing.
Since I'm guessing you do not actually know -- MLK died on April 4, 1968, about 5 years after you think he was "rolling over in his grave."
Who doesn't know ...
Early morning, April 4
A shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last
They took your life,
They could not take your pride
Early morning? :D
It had to have been someone else then.
Yes yes, i know, I know

I'm sure it would be a big hit with the ladies.

Yes!
We still make interoffice jokes about it.
I do not know if that was a feature of the game or not, I still consider it a bug.

Yeah right, she can't possibly say no now.
it's not like there are any warez servers out that with enough drive space to hold such a beast. :)
next boot? What is this "boot" you speak of?

IF I see one more movie review by John Katz I'm going to go postal!
Erm... wait a miute......
You wouldn't happen to be talking about this shooting yourself in the foot piece would you?
Wonder if they'll be using e-cons to clean it up ;)

I blame MICROSOFT!!!!!
ummm, oops.
Oh come on!
Mod this up, it's pretty funny when you think about it.
