Actually you cannot transmit offensive messages over ham bands, that is the realm of CB'ers, who tend to be loathed by hams. Ham radio requires a licence for operators, CB bands do not.

Finally I was bothered to find an old nick...didn't realize I had one at my current email address :-) Posted too many AC comments :-)

Yup, that's the nut of it. I'm sure she would have no clue how to uninstall the game, and probably risked his wrath if she did (ever try to keep money away from someone with a gambling problem? I have, it gets ugly when they miss a bet). She tried to get him into a group home, I'm sure she tried her best and still it wasn't enough.

    Hi,

Here's another thing to consider - I was hosting a horse show once and got a request from someone in Nigeria for a "letter of invitation" to attend.

A woman who works at a college told me that often a letter of invitation is needed to travel to North America from certain countries. Also, it might also make you responsible for the person.

    I ignored the email.

I wish the APE Editor was a better program to use tho :\ to make new animals.

OTOH, loosing one of the cheats on the game and seeing everyone running from the white birds or spontaneously puking is pretty amusing :-)

I have Zoo Tycoon, I want the Sims, but the price hasn't come down on it enough for me to buy it. I like Zoo Tycoon, managing the money, and building little scenes. It's like watching an ant farm :-)

I have to say a positive impact of the game is that it is helped me with budgeting skills :-)

I also have Majesty, although the limited character lines are a little annoying, and there aren't so many options for building. Durnit if the trolls don't always go for your marketplace first!

    Yup, you guys are right.

If I had known that the person was sending the item Purolator I would have had it delivered to work.

But I trusted the first woman that I talked to that it would be at my work the next day, and trusted the guy that my package would still be there the evening of the next day.

I have heard so many UPS horror stories from model horse hobby people - same thing - a lot of them refuse to send UPS at all because of past problems.

  12. Purolator Courier is WORSE! on How Not To Ship Computers · · Score: 1

I had someone sent me a package I depended on from the US to Calgary via Purolator Courier.

I still haven't lived down that experience, yesterday a customs form arrived for me for $10.25 - a small sum but a sum nonetheless that I wasn't expecting.

    Anyway, here's how it went:

    1. Delivery attempted, I'm not home
    2. Phone Purolator the evening of the delivery day, woman assures me that my package will be at my workplace the next day.

    3. Next day, twiddle thumbs.
    4. Phone Purolator. According to "John the unit manager" my package has never left the shipping area.

    5. Fine, I say, I will pick it up at the depot that night.

    6. Weedle a ride from someone to drive out to the airport to pick it up.

    7. Package is "not in the shipping area". Drones cannot give explanation.

    8. Scream "F$cking Assholes!" and slam door.

    9. Phone Purolator on third day. All the "unit managers" are in a meeting. Demand to speak to SOMEONE. Get passed around to four other people. I can't stay at home all day to wait for package. Clerk says that if I leave a note with a signature, the driver MIGHT leave it.

    10. Finally someone understands my urgency and pages the driver.

    11. Package arrives. Happy happy!

    12. Receive 5 phone calls within the next hour to make sure it arrived.

I could have saved so much time and effort if the package had just been there when they said it would be!

They all suck in Canada except Xpresspost. Xpresspost from Canada Post is a god send! Fast and reliable, no problems ever.

We actually hired someone who had once posed as a phony massuese.

I had read about the story when I first moved here in 1995, about this guy who would use roommate wanted ads to call up women and say they won a free massage. Then he would go to their homes and assault them.

Flash forward to 1999, he had been out of the country for a while, came back, was hired by us, but somewhere in between had been caught and sentenced. The day that his sentence was announced on the morning news, the HR woman recognized his full name. He had been going by a nick name.

Weird hey? I also just found out this week one of my former classmates was sentenced for possession of kiddie porn :\ makes me feel totally creepy.

Another co-worker who left a long time ago smoldered the corner of her monitor before she left unhappily.
