  1. welp on Portal Update Hints At New Game · · Score: 1

-People play and see the radio in the beginning room now has a green light
-Carry it around and notice it makes strange broadcast interference noises in certain places

Well that's just wrong. The radios are hidden on every map, it's literally not possible to carry a radio between puzzles.

  2. Finally on Blizzard Authenticators May Become Mandatory · · Score: 1

They were already mandatory to anyone with more than 3 brain cells. No matter how careful you are, the chances of you logging in on a compromised machine are just too great. An authenticator removes absolutely any chance of a compromised account.

And for anyone who doesn't want the physical fob, it's quite easy to just load the cell phone based authenticator on a cell phone emulator.

  3. Sony strikes again on Sony Makes It Hard To Develop For the PS3 On Purpose · · Score: 1

This is horrible and highlights what a backwards and, frankly, stupid company Sony has become. They have some of the greatest hardware but refuse to take into consideration either the consumer or apparently the programmer now.

I remember hearing a lot of pre-grumbling from developers that Cell was going to be difficult to develop for, and it looks like that has come true. And to those who say, "so what, they should work harder," consider this: if it's too annoying, what's to stop them from switching development to the 360? Practically nothing. Getting better quality games out faster is better for developers than wrestling and having a bit prettier graphics with twice the development cycle.

And to those of you saying that's not what his comment says, look at it again

"We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that (developers) want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so then the question is, what do you do for the rest of the nine-and-a-half years?"

That seriously looks like he is suggesting, in fact I think he's outright stating, that they didn't want the best games to come out initially. Thus, there is all possibility that they made things intentionally difficult because they think developers will cater to THEM, that they'll struggle at first and put out initially poor games before "getting a hang of it" and coming out with the best at the end. That is incredibly pig-headed, business-poor, and shows that Sony really doesn't understand how the gaming industry works. People buy the console that has the best games, not the one that might. If PS3 released with the best games the system will ever have, they might have sold more PS3 units than PS2.

This is just...amazing. I think next, we should sue car companies who pay to have their cars featured in movies where the cars are used to commit crimes (speeding, drive bys, etc).

Not a perfect analogy but its very akin. Kazaa said "you can find millions of files on our product." That is 100% true. It is also NOT hard to find millions of perfectly legal files on the Kazaa network.

This is just like my school, which has their distro of Red Hat hard coded to NOT play MP3s. XMMS is included but it will literally NOT PLAY MP3s. Their reasoning: they're a vehicle for piracy. Anyone remember when they were saying hte same about CD burners? How about VCRs? How about tapes?

This just gets dumber and dumber the farther things go. It's almost like they're saying that the company should not say you can find any type of file on their product (then why would people want it?), but I'm sure they'd find something wrong anyway.

Bomb the RIAA and MPAA. They want to make an example of Kazaa, I want to make an example of them.

  16. quakecon on Intel/AMD Battle Rages On · · Score: 3, Interesting

I was at Quakecon, which was sponsored by Intel. Saturday (i think it was, it's all a haze) an AMD guy came and in front of the center was passing out AMD shirts and tattoos. By the time he was out of shirts one of the Quakecon organizers came over and started yelling at him that he "couldn't be there", and AMD wouldn't be a future sponsor if he stayed. They went off to the side and yelled for a while. I went and got something to eat.

On the way back I see the AMD guy walking away from the center, with a huge stack of temp tattoos in his hand. I ask for one, he gives me THE WHOLE STACK and says "don't let them see these or theyll take your badge and kick you out".

Later that day I saw him and his coworker as they were leaving, they gave me about 10 more shirts, which I gave to all my friends. I personally put an AMD tattoo on my forehead and wore the shirt...my friend went and started passing tattoos out in front of the Intel booth and a guy literally ran up, pushed him, and started yelling "what the fuck are you doing, you're not allowed over here anymore!"

    Good times.
