  1. Failure isn't tolerated on Microsoft Loses $177m on Xbox in Three Months · · Score: 0

If it was, Sega would still be making consoles. Sega made so many consoles that failed in the industry that when the Dreamcast came out no one was interested because several of their previous machines had failed. Microsoft can't allow Xbox to fail and then produce Xbox2 and then Xbox3 and then Xbox4 until one of them works because people just won't buy something that has repeatedly failed.

In the Cinema, not off the net. She said it was OK, on par with the first film. Daniel Radcliffe still can't act very well but the adult performances were fantastic as before. Also, this film is less suitable for very young children as she claims it has some very scary scenes for its rating (the Serpent in particular). The special effects were fantastic with the flying car sequence being performed very acceptably. I just wish JK Rowling would hurry up with the fifth book, but I suppose I'd rather wait another 6 months for a good book than 1 more week for a crap one.

I've heard people say that, "not many people have broadband." However, the people buying these systems most often do. I suspect that the percentage of Xbox owners with broadband is much higher than average.

Broadband in the UK is still too expensive for Joe Average. Quite a few people still don't even have an internet connection at home.

You might not think that this matters but now the X-box has dropped in price in Europe and more people can afford one I think some people are in for a shock when they find out that playing online games with their X-box is going to cost them between £30-40 per month. And that's after they've forked out an additional £70+ one off connection fee. I can't see little Timmy's parents paying for that.

  18. Quality vs Quantity on Salon Goes Inside the X-Box · · Score: 0, Redundant
I think that something Microsoft didn't realise is that in the games console market quantity is better than quality. Look at the N64 for instance.

Most of its games were very high quality, but there really weren't very many games.PlayStation on the other hand had some very high quality games and hundreds (if not thousands) of middling to poor games. Just walking into a games store and seeing rows upon rows of PSOne games versus a couple of shelves worth of N64 games was enough for most people to decide which console they wanted.

I live in Europe and now it's £199 it becomes quite attractive but what I have noticed is that in the States there's an add on disc for DOA3 coming out in June. I know that it's only enhancements but how long will it be before a developer decides to release a game to make their deadline with the intention of releasing an patch for it poorly diguised as an add on?

Endless supply of FPS where you run around an Arena with a rocket launcher don't do anything for me. What do most of you use your Windows machines for? Sorry, most of you probably use Linux now, with Wine installed so that you can run all your favourite Windows Apps. Linux has solved nothing.
