    At my work we've been told that we must pay for licenses for our desktops to use JAVA runtime.

    We are not exactly scrambling to rewrite apps but this has killed all new development in Java in the organization.

    At home, I have not installed Java in 5 years.

    RE: The purpose of an election is to convince the losing side they'd have also lost the war, so they aren't tempted to start one.

    With the state of things, this will be the real issue after this election. I don't know what the centrist and "left leaning" folks will do. Probably organize more.

    If the far-right loses, I cannot see them do anything passive. I fear some of them going out to shoot up anything not Christian and white.

    TV is also dying b/c of ads. I think they are north of 33% now.

    I heard years ago that France has something similar to this idea except ALL the ads are on Sunday. It was the highest rated viewing time, too. Dunno if it's still like this now.

    NOBODY is going to rewrite their apps for this new OS.
    They were reluctant for BB10 and Windows phone OS 7(?) back when market shares were up in the air.

    Now there are 2 phone OS markets. That's it!

    Sand with sharp edges.
    Sand from the desert is round and is not good for cement.

    So stop worrying about the CO2, energy, etc needed to make cement. we are running out of sand.
