My AMD64 3400+ never goes about 100F with my hyper 6 by coolermaster. Granted it's got an 80mm fan but it's quieter than most power supplies. From there you can underclock and turn the fan down to where it's nearly silent while maintaining a good temp.
I simply quit going to theaters. It seems like movie ticket costs have gone up and up and up over the past 10 years yet the quality of movie theaters has stayed the same. There are too many things to even list that piss me off in theaters.
"users who need to perform multiple tasks simultaneously"
Or maybe people should simply unplug once in a while and enjoy some of the real world. All I can imagine is some idiot using this while he's driving and causing an accident...this is far worse than cell phones. Yeah sure there's a power advantage like someone mentioned above for laptops...we'd be better off spending money on designing new longer lasting batteries than this thing.
And being an "ubergeek" means you have a few cables lying around the house? Guess we have more geeks in this would then one would be led to believe.
I have the Explorer 8000HD (thru TW) and I'm quite content with it. HD channels are HD channels and if someone buys a bigscreen TV and bitches about non-HD channels looking like crap then they didn't do their homework. When I bought my 57" Sony I knew what to expect. Ofcourse the people are circuit city don't tell you this because they only show HD channels but if you demand it they will show it. Freezing happens occasionally when watching recorded shows but I mean really occasionally. Maybe mine just works better than some but at most it'll happen one time during a show. If you're unhappy with your DVR then get a Tivo or make yourself a MythTV setup. Just because your experiance isn't up to par doesn't mean HDTV doesn't rock.
I use mc all the time...definatly up towards top 3.
centericq bitchx:-D iptraf fwlogwatch for a nice way to parse your iptables logs linuxconf - haven't used it for quite some time but it was nice when I did use it ntop - another one I haven't used in a while:(
Cleanest computers come from elderly, upper class people, filthiest computers come from poor people who usually have lower hygiene standards and more likely to SMOKE than the upper class folks.
It's because neither the elderly nor the rich use their computers you dolt.
In a way I partially agree. But the problem is parents take this to a whole new level and decide to sue folks like Rockstar Games, Sony and Walmart when their kids start shooting at cars on the freeway.
Limit their time on the internet (cron works great for me) and be a good parent.
You don't see thin eskimos because the amount of fats they take in. Clearly this wasn't my point but instead I was commenting on them having no carbs in their diet and it not being "unhealthy" like this strand of posts was all about. Thank but please move along..
hypocrisy? maybe...but something deep down inside me makes me EXPECT alot more out of an OS that you pay for than one that is free. I have less problems to deal with (lets even assume that linux has just as many problems as windows)...same amount of problems yet it's free. Gee...if I was paying for Windows I'd be pretty pissed (pirated copies excluded from my random rambling)

"especially long calls that might drain my battery."
It seems like a simple solution would be to not talk on the phone so long.
"would stop trying to persuade Web sites"
Perhaps if they did this mafia style with a hammer and some other blunt objects they would have better sucess
Sorry only BitchX in this household...thanks but move alone flame-boy

Something that will weed out dumb linux users just like most all Windows viruses attack the dumb windows users.
Do not mix...

Well you better hurry up and tell the Eskimos they've been eating unhealthy all these years.
