To quote my GF, "Oh great, geeks with guns." Hey, we all need a hobby! How many other folks out there bought a Desert Eagle because of Vinnie Jones's monologue in "Snatch?" I know you're out there! I mean...it's sooooo shiny!

Even with all flood control gates wide open, the only folks in danger would be a couple of unlucky rafters below the dam.

As far as network logs go, the buck stops there. However, from that point is where a suitably motivated investigator begins collecting other intelligence. Be it it tapes from CCTV cameras, or just asking questions of employees and other patrons. You'd be amazed at how much information casual observers in such a situation will remember, and be able to provide an investigator.

Human intelligence is often the critical piece of info needed to pinch someone who has otherwise covered their tracks well.

For truly anonymous internet, find yourself a hotspot and a nice dark corner in which to hide (or alley to park in while wardriving). Oh, and spoof your MAC address as well, just to make it that much harder to pin it to your machine.

    Cheers

My guess is that it's exactly the opposite. As mentioned in an earlier post, deals like this aren't inked overnight. This was probably months in the making.

I submit that it was either done behind Pixar/Job's back, or more likely, Disney chose WMA over QuickTime. We're all familiar with good 'ol quirky Steve Jobs and his hilarious temper!

Perhaps he said "Okay, fine. Use their DRM/encoding, but what will you distribute after I take my toys (stories, too!) and leave? Screw you, I'm going home!"

You're definitely on the money about Disney hurting without Pixar.

Derek at CDBaby is a brilliant, brilliant man, and I have nothing but respect for him, and his whole company.

They take only a very, very tiny cut of sales revenue (like 6 cents or something), leaving us the majority of the sale.

  25. WRONG!!! on Jet Turbine Locomotives · · Score: 1

    WRONG.

It's what's known in the industry as "stringlining." It's why heavier (loaded) cars are switched to the front of a long train, and the "empties" (unloaded cars) are always coupled to the rear when possible.

The flanges on the wheelsets (that little ridge on the inside of the wheel that actually keeps the car on the rails) can only take so much lateral force before jumping the rails.

If a train with empties in the center of the train attempts to pull through a curve (especially while accelerating) the lighter cars in the center will derail and be pulled into a straight line between cars heavy enough to stay on the tracks. This can affect anywhere from 5 to 100 or more cars, and is a REAL BITCH to clean up...especially when it happens on a hill (which is where one generally finds sharper radius curves on a rail line). One would be amazed how far a freight car can roll off the tracks when pointed downhill!
