"The guy was elected because he is an outstanding orator."
Hm, maybe. I think his biggest asset was that he simply wasn't another George Bush, which is exactly what McCain was shaping up to be. He was an OK orator. After 8 years of listening to Bush stumble through the English language almost anyone who could speak correctly would appear as an outstanding orator, but in fact I don't think he was great, just good enough.
By the way, I'll take rhetoric that doesn't accompany an idiotic war over rhetoric that does.
The fact that people were glad to have him removed does not mean the cop didn't do anything wrong. It is precisely when it is inconvenient that we should demand legal and civil rights be upheld, otherwise laws are nothing more than empty phrases to be abandoned when some cop has characterologic problems or there is a handy mob nearby.
We should once again try to own the phrase "government of the people, by the people and for the people."
It's quite possible that the others were just out of matches....
But you do bring up an interesting point. Is IQ related to crassness? I rather suspect not. I work with some very bright engineers who probably wouldn't be able to speak if it wasn't for swear words. Having a high IQ does not put one in the enlightened arena, it simply means that one is gifted at solving problems or remembering things or synthesizing information. It has absolutely no bearing on how you live life and the quality of human being you are.
The murdered crew members...not so much. Being happy and feeling lucky on the pain and suffering of others is wretched, no matter who you are or what the business is.
Interesting. So, you're inferring that we are now in an ice age and that the retreat of the glaciers is just part of the natural cycle? Could be. If we were currently in an ice age.
"Non-smokers whining about the smell of old tobacco is one thing..."
Classic. You denigrate the people who dare to complain about having to be near someone who is foul smelling. Imagine working with someone who never bathed. That is a similar experience to being around smokers.
Actually, Linux has brought about real change, but not really in the let's-promote-peace-and-human-rights kind of way. It seems a stretch to even consider him. He has been extraordinarily influential, but as far as the Peace Prize, I don't think it's appropriate. (I don't dislike Obama but I didn't think he deserved it either).
Informative indeed. That's a better video than the inhabitat web page, which leads one to believe you can just stick it on and keep a wrecking ball out of your living room.
Well, it certainly looks interesting, but in the video the wallpaper was anchored very securely at the top and bottom of the test wall. I'd like to see how it does with only the sticky backing of the product itself keeping it on the wall.
The video itself was very mild in content. A bunch of people standing around looking at a poster that had been knocked down. But the awful moment came when the guard removed the poster and you can hear people actually clapping. It so reminded me of that quote "So this is how liberty dies, with thunderous applause."

Exactly.
An invasion of privacy is hilarious?

I would have thought the answer to subverting retinal scans would have been suggested by the original story: Just cross your eyes.
So, where's the funny part?

Move along? That is precisely the reason that the world sucks as much as it does.

That's because it's not an atomic clock.
And you wonder why Apple users start to get an attitude? It's because we've been suffering dolt-ish comments like this for so long.
"it is just that the usee misunderstands"
Actually, I think Apple is the usee and the purchaser of said products would be the user. :-)
Yes, its' a simple head code. Any English schoolboy could catch it.

Poison dust.
It may be more of a danger to children, but to dismiss an environment that is coated with poison dust as harmless without further study is absurd.

" and insurance paying for them"
This is about science, not science fiction.

Just be prepared for what is bound to happen. Your bike will likely get stolen.
Apparently I did. How could you tell? Or are you ascribing your own feelings to the situation?

"If you destroy evidence, make sure you destroy the backups, too."
No, that would be the Immoral of the Story.
