    Even the fastest most efficient cashier is going to be many times slower than a contactless swipe of a card. Especially as the reader for the card can actually be at places like the gas pump.

    Obviously you aren't Australian then. In Australia paywave/paypass are many times faster than cash. I still use cash for a lot of things but when speed is needed you can't beat the speed of contactless payments.

    It really depends, they don't need to be cool. They just need to be X86 compatible! Their phones have been decent but poorly supported app wise, give me compatibility with X86 and I would get one tomorrow instead of my planned Galaxy S8 purchase.

    The problem becomes if they are suing a company with no value then the lawsuit is also worthless, Shares while probably worth the same perhaps has some "gambling" value if a miracle occurs and one of her scientists comes up with some amazing product or even creates the test (unlikely but then so is getting money from a lawsuit of a worthless company)

  6. Was not trump that was underestimated, it was the Critical thinking of the American public that was over estimated. However trump is in a situation now where he has to deliver on many of his more ridiculous promises even with his own party against him if he wants to get a second term. Those people that came out to support him won't do so again unless they have the jobs and security he promised.

    I would have to agree, while it is not uncommon in Tech, it is on the decline and really most big firms don't have this issue anymore. Been a long time since I have seen a firm with such issues (there will always be one or two men and woman with sexist natures everywhere though). It really does sound though that Uber has serious HR and staffing issues that are endemic to the company though.

    COD, NFL, NCAA, FIFA etc all disagree with you. So far despite the problems this looks like it "could" be one of nintendos most successful consoles. All the major game studios and consoles constantly rehash existing IP, they do it because it SELLS. Having said that I think we are getting towards the end of consoles era anyway with mobiles, tablets and smart TV's etc getting more and more powerful every year. Console landscape will be very very different in another 5 years or so.

    because it is the distributers not Netflix that set the requirements for what security/DRM mechanisms you need to support for HD. If google or Mozilla implement something acceptable to the content providers then Netflix can provide it. Netflix is the only the middle man in this situation.

    in terms of medical research that is actually very near future. It takes a lot of research and proof before you can even get close to having human trials approved.

    The IPhone is sold at a ridiculously high price, one that cannot be justified by the tech but simply by people willing to pay. The Ipad is no different, it doesn't sell at such a high premium as the iPhone as it has a far more competitive and declining market, look at the competitions tablets though and then you will start wondering why the fuck is an ipad so expensive, similiarly if you look at Iphone's competitors you will wonder the same.

    yes I know, I have been to Norway many times, still doing such an operation at less than 10 cents a ton for the movement of materials alone seems insanely cheap, unless as the other responder says the ore from the tunnel offsets the cost and the 272 million is just the extra they have to throw in.

    Ahhh that makes more sense then, otherwise the price seems ridiculously cheap as the movement of the rock/earth alone at that price would mean less than 10 cents a ton which just doesn't sound possible for even the most efficient of operations.

    What seems to be what the real question he is asking is, "how do I use Bitcoin in a way that bypasses my legal obligations to pay tax on the money I have earned through the rise in bitcoin price.", incidentally this is not just a US situation, most countries of the world will consider your gain in price is a taxable asset.

    If this is for a serious business and you need to ask /. how it is done then back the fuck away from the keyboard and hire someone that understands this or you will be walking into a world of pain. First check what you are really doing justifies encryption, remembering encryption does not protect you from people installing malware, people social engineering access, unsecured buildings, unpatched systems etc etc and this is usually what is being exploited. First you need to get your businesses tech security in order otherwise all you are doing is adding more complexity with very minimal security improvements (basically you solve the issue of someone stealing a harddrive).

    PS: I would actually say the same about this article on Legal tax minimisation. Yes we fucking know it exists, everyone fucking knows.     this is only partly true, the problem becomes that these companies don't just move costs between two companies, they move it between multiple companies in multiple countries where the part of the transaction that massively increased the end cost to Apple NZ would be completely out of picture for NZ Tax department. All parts of the transaction that are within any single countries borders are done within the rules of that country. Hence the double Irish or the Double Irish with a dutch Sandwich or many other variants and similar schemes.

    that doesn't solve shit! Google, Samsung, Sony etc etc all do the same fucking thing as apple. The only way to stop it is getting local tax laws changed which governments all over the world have been incredible slow at doing. Every fucking multi national does this, it isn't a secret and all of the will continue to do it as long as it is legal.
