plenty of devices use wifi/wireless tech in exactly the same way that Bluetooth is used. Bluetooth authentication is usually hidden to make it easier to understand for the average clueless user, just like it is hidden for other wireless tech devices like mice etc that don't use Bluetooth, simply because you don't see the network selection and authentication doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
Part of the reason Bluetooth has very limited uses is the shithouse range which is part of what they are fixing. however not sure why they bother as at this point why would you choose Bluetooth when other wireless technologies now do the job.
more like 1990's phones, 1980's mobile were massive bricks. regardless though phones rapidly reached acceptable size and weight a long long time ago and it seems insane to focus on that when such other glaringly obvious problems exist like battery life.
users that don't buy the phone outright are actually paying more for the phone. accidents happen regardless of how careful you are, some bumps your hand as you take it out of your pocket or you reach to grab something and the silk smooth casing makes it slip through your fingers, despite the so called gorilla glass it only takes a single slip and an awkward landing position for the phone and it is cracked.
Weight is the same situation as thinness, they have already gone overboard to the point where saving a couple of grams is not noticible to the user and if anything they are already getting to light. I will happily have a slightly thicker and heavier phone for the convenience of keeping a universal headphone jack and slightly longer battery.
It is sad really, It kills it as a purchase for me too, the s7 was already thin enough, they could have even added a little weight and thickness to get longer battery life and it would be a winner. I don't understand this pointless push to be a nats whisker thinner and lighter all the time.
Is this another Panasonic thing where they try to compete with an old technology (e.g. Plasma) while everyone else is switching to the new type?
OLED is still too expensive for the majority of people, creating better LCD is definitely a positive. Just like some of the best displays for years after LCD came to dominate were still plasma's I expect we will see some excellent LCD screens for a long time to come.
This not so rare (car theft) scenario and the ensuing insurance premium costs and inconvenience are the exact reason why I happily allow my car to be tracked and remotely disabled, if it could lock them inside as well I would happily take that feature too, though any half sane person knows side windows are not particularly hard to break so locking someone in is unlikely to do much in most circumstances
you pay it to the owners of the business at that time, sounds like it was a small IS so should be a simple matter. does seem incredibly cheap damages bill for an ISP with 500 business and a few thousand general consumer customers when they were out for a week. Perhaps this conviction will lead to more civil lawsuits down the road.
ummmm the whole point was he did try to steal the software and scripts first, AFTERWARDS he tried to use the damage he caused as a negotiation tactic to gain legal access. Their was no kinda trying to do the right thing here.
Going after fake news? does this mean the US government will be attacking its own propaganda sites too? or is this just more hypocrisy where it is only everyone else that isn't allowed to create fake news?
No downside? I can think of many, getting arrested for carrying a device intended to do damage, destruction of policy property etc etc. This has so many downsides it is a completely insane use where a routine search could turn into a nice long stint in Jail and a criminal record.
Do you put up flags and posters celebrating those iffy sites? perhaps download videos of them on your phone and start acting and dressing according to those iffy sites too like he did?
The speakers are supposedly damaged over time according to the article. no driver or boot loader should be able to do that regardless of how shoddy, this is more shoddy hardware design then shoddy software.
exactly! their current stories will have skyrocketed in hits from the various news articles about them and they will have just made a mint, when that one dies off they move onto the next story.
Not sure I would classify them as unemployable. They have exhibited an excellent understanding of human nature and what drives eyeballs to stories and turning that into profit. They could have an excellent future in someplace like google if they could lower their moral standards a little more.
I doubt this is about pushing any agenda, Fake news drives large amounts of hits/click bait, which in return drives advertising revenue. Their are people all over the world who have realised this and their entire job is to generate fake news, not for any agenda, simply profit. The more controversial and topical the more likely to earn money. Up until a few weeks ago it was all about Hillary and Trump, now they need to move on.
The people that win are the ones that control the military, those with guns at home are mere cannon fodder and would not be a major issue. military has long moved past the point where home owners with guns would be a significant factor in the outcome of any mass conflict.
paper ballots are just as prone to corruption and rigging. you still need to trust all the people handling the ballot boxes, the people counting the votes and on top of that you need to ensure someone is not stuffing the ballot box. This sort of election fraud has been going on since elections were created anywhere where someone's vote is anonymous you will always have these problems. Worse still with paper voting unless you catch someone committing the rigging int he actual act is difficult/impossible to do it after the fact.
When was last you looked? 20 years ago? Foxconn etc are some of the most advanced and automated factories in the world, anything that can be automated is. But when you make 200 million widgets for just one of your customers every year you still have a massive staffing size to feed the machines, packaging, quality control and testing and just moving shit in and out as well as certain tasks that are still difficult to automate. You have a factory taking deliveries on a daily basis from hundreds of suppliers and shipping out millions of devices a week as well as all the auxiliary staff to support this (security, catering, engineering and maintenance, cleaning etc etc) , If they didn't have mass automation they would have a workforce 10 times the size and still would not be producing as much as they do. The ignorance of assuming these companies are all hand labour is astonishing.
Foxconn is in many countries, they are not wedded to china, they are wedded to making a profit, if they could make their biggest customer happy and make them profitably in the US they would happily sack a couple of hundred thousand employees and move overnight.
The chinese factories are already some of the most advanced and automated in the world. But when you are producing 200 million phones a year in a factory their is still going to be a lot of people feeding that automation.
utter bullshit. You have obviously never worked in the real world. Sure execs are always looking to cover their own arses, but by the same token employee's would sell them out in a heartbeat if they were ordered to do illegal deeds rather than take the blame themselves.

So what you are saying is, Bluetooth 5 will be the wrong technology.
Part of the reason Bluetooth has very limited uses is the shithouse range which is part of what they are fixing. however not sure why they bother as at this point why would you choose Bluetooth when other wireless technologies now do the job.

This exploit is OS agnostic retard and if you bothered to read the article you would know that.

riiiight, every country in the world that has a basketcase of an economy is because it doesn't trade with the US.
