    Gentoo is just a rolling release, you can unmask newer stuff but otherwise it doesn't change much and portage usually does a good job of prevent breakages, unlike Arch.

    Don't complain because people get spoiled by easier/faster ways to do things.

    You've never used github if you haven't seen people pushing repos taken down to other git hosts.
    Bittorrent was only designed to be fast, and that's why it overtaken p2p clients that tried to actually tackle those other problems.
    Both the users not using local wallets and incompetent owners attracted by free internet moneys are to blame.

    Youtube already serves separate audio and video tracks, one would expect them to be able to process/compress nicely still images.

  15. they may have some sort of contract where they have to exclusively use Global Foundries and if so thats highly unfortunate for AMD given the rise of TSMC and company.

    But they don't, AMD has already announced that they were also working with samsung fabs.

    Sometimes is just a matter of downloading sensors-detect from git and running that instead of the packaged version.
    Also on my current motherboard both the manufacturers windows utility and lm-sensors show mostly bogus values because they read raw values, only the bios setup screen shows the correct values.

    it should be a battery "back" that slides on, and only connects the power when it makes contact with the end of the phone. Some early Motorola phones essentially did this. Except they were huge.

    The Ericsson T28 was pretty thin for it's time with a metal back where the battery clipped in.

    That was true up to 2012 or so, now it should block them from loading.

    You can tweak most connection-related settings with about:config, but the problem is usually a too short server-side timeout (to free up more resources or to protect again slowloris-type DDoS) or stupid AJAX code that doesn't handle errors properly

  21. Windows 10 goes further too by using x86 features to separate data from executable bits directly on the CPU and signed bootloaders.

    Just because NX is now an hard-requirement doesn't mean previous version didn't use it, and signed bootloaders are evil.

    1) Make a product that does something better than the competition
    2) Push your product to be bundled with everything
    3) When you have almost monopoly, do what the fuck you want

    Even cheap HP laptops have sensors that combined with their crappy windows utilities should park the disk heads.
    On linux they appear as a standard joystick which can be used to do anything.
