And thus continues the ass backwards belief that your enemies hate you simply because you exist. You're right, though. It's far too late for diplomacy.
"I think it's completely misleading and off-the-mark to compare the iPhone to a cell phone, at all. The only reason we're tempted to do so is because it has "Phone" in the name. But that's almost as absurd as looking at a $2000 "Apple" computer and calling it expensive because you can get an "apple" at the grocery store for 50 cents."
I think if you ate a computer, you wouldn't be able to keep the doctor away for long.
I think it's misleading to call the iPhone "revolutionary". I think, at most, it's really evolutionary. It's a great phone/mp3 player/camera/calendar/kitcen sink, but its not like we don't have anything like that already, just not as nice as Apple's.
Oh, and those other ones are called Phones also. Equally misleading. Or not, depending on your perspective.
1080p != 60 fps. Progressive video still delivers only 30 frames per second, just the same as interlaced, but interlaced does it so that half a frame (called a field) is sent every 1/60th of a second, while progressive doesn't divide the signal into two fields.
IIRC, 'interlaced' was a trick that the NTSC engineers came up with to deal with technical limitations of televisions working in the North American 60hz power scheme. Interlacing also allowed television signals to be transmitted within a 6mghz package over the air, as well.
"Viral" doesn't necessarily mean that it was apparently made by amateur video makers. Most "viral" videos I remember were either clear in origin or non commercial.
This, and other such marketing ploys like that of the oil companies a year ago, is subversive and attempts to circumvent the viewers sense of distrust for typical commercials. If you don't find any of that offensive, I'd be surprised.
"There are lots of style-conscious people out there who will pay a premium for a cell phone with an Apple logo on it regardless of whether it has cutting edge technology or not."
This might be illustrative of the point of making an Apple phone (or any Apple product)... it seems to me that you're suggesting 'cutting edge technology' is only in the hardware.
Yep, thats Gears of War cinematics. I pointed this out in a different post: the models they use for cinematics are different than they do for actual gameplay, but none the less, both game play and cinematics are rendered in-engine. I'm no game designer, or graphics expert, but for cinematics, I can see them being able to support much more detailed character models when they are able reduce everything else the processor has to handle, like enemies and AI.

Good luck finding such a thing."
Well, I haven't even bothered to look for such a screenshot, but I've played the game, and have been able to look at footage of actual gameplay on a frame-by-frame level (I edited a piece on GoW for television). And I noticed something while looking through... the cinematics in the game do not use the same character models as are used in actual gameplay, which would explain why the quality of visuals in cinematics seems to be so much higher "than actual gameplay". However, the cinematics ARE being generated by the game engine.
And frankly, I feel that the quality of visuals in the cinematics is right on par with that screenshot in the GP.
"Do you think people buy minivans for the looks? Our minivan rarely goes anywhere with less than four people."
You take your family to work?!? Or are you among the generally few responsible drivers who make the effort to carpool?
I don't have any stats toss in here, so discard at your leisure, but the city of Toronto recently opened an "HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) Lane" on one of it's busiest highways. It did so to encourage carpooling, and worked to a degree. But it also illuminated just how many drivers go to work every single day, driving _any_ sort of vehicle, alone. I worked at a television station at the time, and I can tell you that we collected tons of viz of people driving trucks, SUV's & minivans with no one but themselves in the vehicle.
There were even people who were caught with DUMMIES in the passenger seats trying to trick police into think they had more than 1 passenger, so they could use the HOV Lane!!
No one correcting them? Holy crap, I was starting to get sick of how many people were starting their posts off with "first, its not an FPS, it's a third person shooter."
Just the 3 first responder posts above yours on my screen currently show corrections, and those posts were made at least an hour before yours!
I have to agree with Bega above me, here... The AI of your teammates is pretty lacking. On several occasions, Dom (your squad partner) will run out in what seems to me to be a completely random direction. That might seem harmless enough in many cases, but when you need to follow Dom with a spot light only a couple metres wide, you'd hope he'd choose a straight and predictable route. Like towards the objective, for instance.
'But I have to say, thus far, proponents of Net neutrality regulation have not come to us to explain where the market is failing or what anticompetitive conduct we should challenge.'
To what mailing/emailing address does one direct such arguments?
Floppies: Cheap, convenient, and sufficient for most people. Zip files, 120MB floppy (whatever it was called): Expensive, more reliable, more storage, more features, etc., FAILURE.
I assume you meant zip disks... but maybe I'm wrong because you seem to claim that they were more reliable. The ones I bought were peices of garbage. They'd frequently stop working for no particular reason. Buy a new one, pop it in the drive and a few disk read 'chugs' later, the drive would no longer be readable. College was expensive for me.
Except the crepes are good for you.

My memory is a little fuzzy, but if I recall correctly, StarvingSE didn't make the joke...
What does it say about your character that you were so eager and willing to criticise that you overlooked a pretty simple fact?

Talk about word association... I thought the slug for this story was "Google's Silent Microsoft".

"Even in 40 player Resistance matches there has yet to be anyone reporting any lag thanks to Sony's online setup."
Are there even 40 people on Sony's online service right now?! Wow! I guess they sold more than everyone thought!
Wow... I don't post very often, but I'm going to use preview next time... Apparently English and I don't get along very well...

How far games have come... I only spent 15 minutes on Super Mario 3...

But, for what it's worth, I love the game.

Rephrase: Penny Arcade isn't just funny.

We keep mentioning kiosks, and I assume we mean a kiosk in an EB or other store. So, how would I get my downloaded content to said kiosk?
Personally, I'd probably burn it onto a DVD or something...
German kids are especially susceptible to crying from video games!
Everyone who navigates city streets does not necessarily drive a car.
