Speaking of media.. ok im off-topic but has anyone heard the stuff Emanuel Goldstein recorded at the NY RNC protests? the NYPD seem to have turned into fascist fucktards, not '911 heroes' i think its important people hear all facts and see raw evidence taken in context, it always speaks for itself and it doesn't need any sort of pushing. F911 did have a bit of bias and opinion in it but its raw scenes were the ones that stood out. I think an army of journalists/pissed-off people should go on a mass hunt for incriminating evidence from the bush administration (and in fact from all other parties and corporations) because there's plenty - even if it means you have to violate a few 1st amendment rights and go searching senators/ceo's homes without warrants (yes break in to the fuckers, they do it to you) and get all the crap they don't want you to see and make as many copies as you can and stick it on tv and post it around. If your corporate pig boss has been dealing with the government, don't feel any guilt in rifling through their desk and copying whatever you can, homeland security wants you to be vigilant: well be vigilant!! spy on your government and the people with power and get that information to everyone else!
WTF there is secret law?? that does it, you guys go right now and storm the white-house and drag bush kicking and screaming to the wall round the back, secret law = facist dictatorship.
Windows requires 512MB of ram at entry level for the average desktop, atleast 1GB is best if you want to open more then a couple of of windows at once. Now that memory is cheap Windows finally runs decently for every-day use. At work i sometimes use an old win95 machine with about 32MB of ram (which was a shit load back then) - loading IE is painful on that:(
Extensions rock! but unfortunately allot of them arn't all in one place - you gotta look!:( what im missing from opera is tabs that depress when you click them (yeah i know its stupid but its an interface thing - you need to make it look like somethings happening the instant you click) and what i really loved about opera is that if it crashed it would save the session automatically! any ideas?
If companies (walmart for example) are willing to sell data such as who bought which product containing rfid tag x then the advertisers just need to scan for certain rfid ids and figure out what to try and sell the person. Just remember its your duty to make sure these sorts of databases are filled with the most useless crap you can think of!
Peoples positions are going to be the next big commodity unless something is done about it fast. Companies are already dying to know who you are, what you buy, what you watch etc and the logical next step is where you are.. phone companies could be the first to sell it, if the law says its ok, they have a pretty good idea of your location almost 24/7. Now thats stalking! Just make sure your country has some sort of data-protection/privacy act and learn how to use and abuse it!
She was his ex-girlfriend so that does make it pretty different. you could say you have a right to modify your own property and track your wife and if she has nothing to hide then why should she have a problem with it? but why should she have to be put in a situation like that? its no different from government cameras in your home - if you have nothing to hide, why should you care? but why should you be put in that position? there are all sorts of conflicting rights going on here and the whole thing needs some looking at.
its engines like this that are the way forward - Flashpoint, GTA, 1942 etc that allow massive worlds, vehicles and lots of freedom and interaction with objects. Also some decent maps or realistic cities help (the getaway was crap to be honest), stick all that together and you can create pretty amazing games easily!
They painted a yellow box around the ATMs outside the tube station that marked a no-go area for people who wernt using the machines, and then had a whole opening ceremony! That tells you all you need to know about crime prevention in Camden! Of course they had a great camera outside some estate overlooking the rubbish bins that showed that muderer dumping body parts but that doesnt really help you does it? Every time i pick up a Camden Journal theres always a story about a gun fight and chase, I hate that place. Where abouts did it happen? what time? I think ive just been very lucky (touch wood) but yeah, good place to avoid at night. Frankly i want to see the police have a zero-tolerence on gun and knife carrying - they see you with a gun/knife and they should shout "drop it, 5, 4, 3, 2,1" and then if you havnt they shoot to kill, would save a fuck load of court time.
Anyone whos institution bans books, how about buying some of them and sneeking them in to the library shelves? give them a label and put them in the right section. And if someone claims they saw you put the book there, act outraged and point out the genuine library stamp and card (showing previous borrowers). then complain that there are unsuitable books in the library - the threat of the local republican paper/parents finding out will shut them up. Then when they get rid of them tell the local sane paper that your school is banning books and stick another load back in. For added effect populate the database with some non-existent fetish porn mags and be sure to spread _plenty_ of rumours. geeks sometimes get some extra access to the library and database - abuse it!;)
Yeah, if he was actually in Israel, he had fled the country and was kidnapped from rome. Now hes out they are further restricting his freedom which is basically punishing him after he has served a full sentence.
..and i would give all that up for a crappy phone (ok i have a crapy phone) and a provider that wont totally screw you over - phones have made massive advances over the last 10 years, call charges havnt changed since about '98 and its not like service has improved - and as for roaming! I really wanna phone that does all it can to screw the network over - distributed wifi voip when possible would be cool..
No thats the lap-dog clause: Blair can order to have an American taken here but he has to call up Bush: "Er, I say, it would be awfully nice if we could have afew of your citizens." then Bush says "Hey Ashcroft!? errr can we give the Brits a couple of our things? yeah they did something bad? err he says he'll think about it."
In the UK we will happily turn over our citizens to the US without it even going through a (british) judge! This is for pretty much anything, the US just has to ask and the dude will be on the plane faster than UPS Overnight. I cant remember which politician was responsible for getting us this great deal but don't worry, I don't think its 2-way.
Ok i read the whole story, this isnt even a DMCA issue! there is no issue here! He is absolutely not violating the DMCA hes just doing something that everyone has been doing for years: taping off the radio and then writting the artist/song name on the side of the tape, the only difference is the tape recorder is a computer and the pen is a script. Selling it isnt even violating anything - since when are you not allowed to sell a product that works with someone elses? Fucking XM and fucking RIAA are going to proceed to RUIN this mans life which is why i can happily say i have never ever given either of them my money, can you say the same thing? The general public are going to stand for this and let corporate cunts walk all over them.
what did this guy expect? If you make and sell a product like this you're going to get sued! Thats the American way! XM Radio have no idea what this product could be used for so they are scared, they figure their best course of action is to sue because none of their other subscribers (apart from slashdot readers) will either know or care. I dont know the full details but this looks like an open and shut DMCA violation. Now we all know the DMCA is pile of shit that came out of the mouths of some fuckwit senators but to XM its a free lunch ticket, are they really going to pass it over? Software like this is already illigal which is why its very very important we distribute it to as many people as we possibly can and shit on this law 'til it's knees deep, but you have to distribute it carefully and anonymously. Selling it in public is going to get you in trouble just like selling forbidden plants or speech.
Just remember the American way: 1) ?? 2) lobby 3) legislate 4) litigate
Actually its just some random crap and textures, since the real game is vapourware. When they're ready they'll release afew 'patches' which contain the rest of it.
links are supposed to be embedded almost anywhere you have a relevent page to link to unless its just a link to a search result thats the whole point of hyper-text. If you don't like it just ignore them or use a style-sheet to get rid of the underline - html is about giving you the page the way you want it.
the other points i agree, unless you actually know the person most blogs suck.

Oh i agree, but it doesnt change the fact that some people are still stuck in the dark ages and this is bound to come up!

theres also the issue of doing it without her knowing vs with her knowing?

Is this like Princess Maker where she always ends up a total slut?
the right does the same thing, but the president gives the orders so its ok.
best comment ever

When is someone going to investigate region coding? its anti-competative and has absolutely nothing to do with copy protection.

Which is odd because we have the DMCA too! it was put in around this time last year with minimum publicity.
