Anyone who has trouble distinguising fantasy from reality past the age of 8 is going to have serious problems in life no matter what they do for a hobby or career.
What about Grave of the Fireflies, another Ghibli movie? I've only seen it once, years ago, and I've never forgotten it. I think it should be required viewing in history classes, actually.
No, I meant the temporary pages. You know, as a double-joke on not only is their new design simple and clean, but also on how their new design is a result of recent linking from the same site I linked from. (Foghorn Leghorn voice) It's a joke, ah say, a joke, son.
Funny, I thought the US military stopped using draftees after Vietnam because of the way that citizens were getting pissed off with the whole sordid mess.
I had people telling me I look like Peter Parker for months after the first movie was released. I guess that's my once-in-a-lifetime celebrity link gone for good.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't it make more sense to use motion detectors where there's not supposed to be any movement? It sounds like a more efficient system would be motion detector/camera pairs, and a small number of security guards who can then take a closer look when an alarm goes off to make sure they're not sending a SWAT team against a stray cat.
Windowmaker and ROX Filer make an awesome combination on older hardware. I suppose I'm biased, though. I'm a resource conservation freak who uses that same combination on a 1.7GHz Athlon with half a gig of RAM.:)
Regarding Britain, Canada is effectively soverign. We don't outright declare ourselves a republic, because the Queen is a nice lady who's very polite when she visits, and it would cost too much money to change all the government stationary. I'm not joking, by the way. This is the way most people I know feel.
I also agree with your point about gradual independence. Scotland and Northern Ireland are two good examples in Britain. I think Scotland's going to turn out a bit better in the long run, even if some of the more nationalistic folks there are grumbling about how long it's taking.:)
"We have indisputable proof of their guilt! We are right, we have always been right! Details? Uh... we'll let you know later, we promise. Pinky swear."
I'd like to see a forearm-mounted screen using some of that roll-up electronic paper and velcro. Think about it. You have a small velcro band near your elbow, and when you need a bigger screen, just unroll the monitor from the wrist mobile and stick it to the velcro.
I know this won't be reality for another two or three decades, though. Sigh. 'Course, by then, there will probably be something completely unexpected and better to do the same job.
This is the FPS I've been waiting a decade for. I couldn't care less about the team aspect of it, I've just always wanted a combat sim where I could pick the vehicle I control on the fly. The Desert Combat mod is also beautiful. Nothing like skimming the desert five feet above the sand in an A-10, laying waste to anything that moves.:)
Their Apache is also very cool, though it takes a hell of a lot of patience before learning to fly that damn thing.
I sell lots of these kits to local mining and smelting companies. The combination is a bit pricey for just 2MP/3x optical zoom; converting from Canadian dollars, at retail prices, I sell these at about $260 per camera and $150 per watertight case. Keep in mind this is a retail store, though. I'm certain you could find a better price online if you don't mind the lack of local tech support.
Like all Canons, they use plain compactflash, and the A series uses AA batteries. If you're out in the field on a deadline, being able to go to the nearest corner store for an emergency power supply can save your ass. The A60s are newer, but I've found they're less durable. I've got an A70 myself, but it's not really suited for abuse.
This is all anecdotal, anyways. I've never done any proper stress testing, I'm just going by what my customers in a few heavy industries have told me. ( My boss would kill me if I spent a day dropping store stock and seeing what happens.:) )
I don't know, but I do remember how pissed off myself and a few friends were in junior high when we spent an hour downloading a jpeg off of Playboy, and found out that Mosaic didn't have jpeg support after the download was finished.
Amen to that. Cellphone makers can have my Visor with gloriously detailed 160x160 2-bit greyscale when they pry it from my cold, dead fingers.
Another thing that the PDA+phone crowd seems to have missed is that a standalone PDA doesn't require a monthly fee.
What if Rogue were wrapped in a full-body skintight latex suit? ..Nah. It'd never happen. That's far too ridiculous for a comic book character.

Don't forget that masterpiece of anime/game to live action conversion, Street Fighter. :)

Alan Rickman as Gendo Ikari.

That would have to be these folks.

I'm sorry to inform you that Microsoft has prior art regarding this patent. Specifically, Steve Ballmer's "DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS!" performance.
People suddenly deciding to not talk about themselves at great length? Not frickin' likely, alas.
I wish I had a unique name like that. My surname gets 57,800,000 results.
Yes, but it requires the KDE libraries. Some people don't want to carry around that extra weight just for a browser.

When you have socialized healthcare you get what you pay for. That's why no medical advancements come out of nations with such systems.
Oh, so the sequencing of the SARS virus (one of them, anyway, now that there might be more than one) never happened in Canada, eh?
Twit.
Here's a sure-fire to scare the living crap out of oneself. Wait until about 2am, turn out all the lights, and start a new game as a Marine.
But don't wear headphones. I ruined a good pair by screaming and jumping backwards when a Facehugger got me.
So, SCO's taking lessons from the Bush junta, eh?

Let's not forget the Star Wars Christmas Special.
(Suddenly millions of voices cried out in terror...)

My god, I feel old now.
