Yes, but when the form comes at the expense of function, function takes precedence. At least, that's my own philosophy. I don't pretend to speak for everyone.
And not upgradeable at all, I'll bet. Oh, maybe they'll let you add a bit of RAM. And not only that, you can run all the software you need! Both Office and Photoshop!
Besides, this monstrosity looks like a combination of eyestalk and ugly lamp. Yup. I'm an anti-mac bigot. But I've got a long and torturous history with the wretched things, starting with an LC3 I was forced to use in high school, so I'm proud of my bigotry.
Yup. I bought a cheap $60 portable Venturer CD player. It supports mp3s burned onto standard iso9660 filesystems. I didn't have to do anything special to prepare CDs for it, I could just pop in my backup CDs and they play perfectly. No rights-management crap either. It even displays the ID3 tag on a screen. Battery life could be a bit better, but it's also got a builtin ni-cad charger for when it's plugged into a wall socket.
Hell, It even decodes MP2s, even though no-one uses them anymore.
And save your flames, audiophiles. I'm nearly tonedeaf, and I don't give a flying fuck about your quality rants. This thing works for me just fine.
In a way, I wish I had never discovered Windowmaker. I've been spoiled by it too much. I'm too used to 0% cpu and 0% mem usage (as measured by a whole slew of cpu and mem meters) from my window manager. Every time I try out a new build of KDE or Gnome, I get to impatient and irritated and go right back to Windowmaker and DFM.
If you're having trouble trying to drive a nail into a wall with a drill, you don't use a more powerful drill, you use a hammer. You use the right tool for the job.
Massive police forces just aren't stopping violent crime from happening. It's time to try something else, like, say, stopping the conditions that facilitate violenct crime from happening in the first place.
I have never been able to get Hushtools to work. I've tried a half dozen Netscape builds under Linux and Windows, I've tried Internet Explorer 5, I've tried Opera with Java support under Windows, I've even tried Mozilla with Java support under both Windows and Linux, and NONE OF THEM WORK.
Besides, if you've got enough CPU to run a Java applet, you've got enough to run PGP or GPG., both of which are available on too many platforms to count. Hushmail is a buggy, insecure scratch looking for a nonexistant itch.

Actually, Slackware *did* release an update. It was on their security mailing list a few days ago.
Ah, yes, the "grab the binary package with apt-get, don't you dare compile from source!" open-source way?
Can you make any argument in favor of owning a TV?
Video games? :)
But about everything else, I agree. TV sucks.
Low system requirements. Not every machine has the half gig of ram required to run KDE without swapping.
I'm sure this will be good news to my mother, who had surgery for carpal tunnel in the 70's. I guess it was just all in her head.
But then what do they end up with? A group of robot employees who don't think for themselves. This can't be good for any company.
You've never worked in retail, have you?
Oh, come on. What heartless jerk charges his own mother for tech support?

Actually, overclocking one of these babies is more like strapping a Saturn 5 onto the back of an Energia.
Nice definitions. What dictionary are they from? Or did you just pull them out of your ass?
Lucky bastard. All I got was the schedule of a pastor and drafts of his upcoming sermons.
Yeah, you're right, if you assume clueless users.
We're talking about sales people here.

I'm kind of curious. How many drug dealers do you know? ;)
not at all... you just make each image map to a keyboard character.
Great idea! I suggest ASCII characters.
Wait a minute...
Maybe a nice EMP burst?
:)
Semi-OT, but would anyone have ideas on how to construct a money-tag-zapper on a student's budget?
And for today (27/12/2001), clicking the icon in the info panel gives you a short but cheerful message.

Damn you, Alfredo Kojima! Damn you to hell!
Hire people to do it all manually. May be more expensive, but paper in a locked filing cabinet can't be hacked. Automation is not always the answer.
It's not stealing, it's copyright infringement.
This was the first anime I'd seen since Robotech when I was 5. It made me cry. Grab a box of kleenex or two before watching it.
From the link:
In comparison, the fastest man-made vehicle on earth, the Ulysses space probe, moves at a poky 27.4 miles per second.
The fastest what on where?
Therefore, the rest of the link is bogus. Everyone knows that Santa can turn himself into a quantum waveform like a previous poster stated.
In conclusion, you are a poopyhead and deserve a stocking full of coal.

This is the US.
Four legs good, two legs bad. Baaaaaaaaaah.
