    Not really in this case. It is common practice for console vendors to sell at or below cost, for reasons I already mentioned (i.e., game sales)

    How would selling something at a loss help to offset investment? They sell it at a loss in order to spur sales, so they can sell the games. The money is made from the games, and that profit is what recoups the investment.

    Sure, I guess you could say 'Well if they gave it away for free they'd recoup that much less', but the point is that they do not sell them at a loss in order to recoup anything. It is to drive sales, plain and simple.

    Why should it be incumbent on the victim of libel to fix things? It never should have happened in the first place.

    Wikipedia is flawed as a credible source of information. It has its uses but its model is flawed if this sort of thing can happen. The damage to him is already done, and here you are saying that it was up to him to fix it? Strange logic.

    You should be modded as insightful. The place to play is on your own machine. If you don't like the standards at your workplace you should find a new job. I'm all for running whatever works on the desktop, but it's the perogative of the *owner* of the hardware (in this case the employer) to decided what is to be run on it.

    This reminds me of my teenager who has a habit of decided on her own that certain rules shouldn't apply to her so she'll just do as she pleases. Buy a machine and play with Linux at home. If you feel strongly about running it at work then propose it to your boss.

    Get some facts...our unemployment is less than half that of most EU countries, and *despite* fuel prices our GDP is still steadily growing. The US economy is just fine.

    Try replying to the right post. I didn't say RMS needed a shower. I was simply agreeing with the parent of my reply about the hero worship here. As another reply to my post put it, there is a difference between appreciating someone's accomplishments and worshiping them.

    As for my accomplishments, I'm quite satisfied with them both professionally and personally. Maybe that's why I can admire others without worshiping them.
