    Ironically, new software designed to improve the ability of the CDA to count particle hits may be to blame.

    Wouldn't it have been better to get a less accurate count than no count at all? I wonder if they did sufficient regression testing or if they rushed the patch out the door. It almost sounds like they were getting greedy.

    It varies quite a bit. I was reading and had an interest in science before I was 4, but my daughter was still pretty much a chatterbot at the same age.

    Brains all grow and develop at different rates even within the same species.

    Moderation of anything Apple related has been horribly broken for at least a year. If you replaced Apple with Microsoft and iPhone with Windows Mobile it would have been modded up.

    I'll get modded down for this like I always do, but that won't stop me from speaking the truth. I truly like Apple products, but the zealotry here has gone WAY too far.

    There was nothing trollish about GP's post. It was quite true. That's why he got modded down. Zealots of any stripe cannot countenance truth being told.

    Except I never said they were all good, let along based on my anecdotes. They are human beings. Most are pretty good but there certainly are some bad apples. I never said there were not; I merely stated that to paint them all with one brush was incorrect.

    So would I. It's funny how so many people who have never touched Vista bash it. On the appropriate hardware (yes it's a beast hardware wise) it's quite nice. Then again I think OS X is nice on my Macs, and Linux is really nice on the couple of boxes I have it on as well.

    Ah well. Wannabe geeks who treat their OS of choice as if it were a religion are at least amusing, don't you agree?

    I have been pulled more than once over and every time I have been treated with respect. You're making huge generalizations. Most police and troopers are good people. Heck, here in PA the State Police protested a raise in fines by not giving ANY tickets for a period of time a few years ago.

    Are some cops assholes on a power trip? Sure. Are most just decent hard working people? Yep.

    I certainly don't want to be on a bus or plane with dozens of people all yakking commands to their devices, nor do I necessarily want to display to the world what commands I am giving to my device. Voice control is nice in certain circumstances, but until they give me a direct neural interface I want keys and/or stylus and/or cursor control and input options.

    I'm sure if anyone tries to implement something like this they will look at the possible benefit (not having pirated chips out there) vs. the added cost. If they don't then they need to shoot their MBA's and get new ones.

    Most of the Martian terrain has apparantly been static for up to millions of years. Dust storms are one thing; we know there is a dynamic atmosphere with seasons and weather there. Capturing an actual avalance, where the surface features are moving and changing, is another matter entirely.

    Neither Billary nor Barry O would realitate even if we were nuked. Obama has already stated that he wants to stop development of future combat systems as well as unilaterally eliminate nukes. Apparantly, castrating our defense is a big vote getter in the Primaries. We'll see how well it flies in the General Election.

    Two of my desktops and all of my laptops have Firewire ports. However, the physical security at my home is pretty good. I highly doubt someone is going to be able to break in and have the time to jack into one of my boxes before the police arrive.
