I remembered "goobuntu" well when I worked at the Google IT help desk call center in 2007-08. Usually for troubleshooting network issues, setting up hostnames in DNS, installing the latest NVidia drivers and VMware images from the CLI. I'm surprised that they didn't call the Debian version "goodeb".
IT support specialists in Silicon Valley make $20K to $60K per year. That pay range has been the norm for 20+ years. Due to the low unemployment rate in Silicon Valley, some recruiters are offering $80K per year for support specialist jobs that are 90 minutes away from San Francisco. The whiny young hipsters don't like commuting more than 30 minutes from San Francisco.
Are you kidding? The Linux mail list archives contain proof of the last time under my legal name I was on the Internet (circa 1990's). Now it's gone. If you search for my legal name today, you get all this white noise from Slashdot about trolls, goats and your mother.
According to my last back of the envelope calculation, I'll be paying an extra 7% in federal taxes on my earned income ($60K per year) from my government IT job. Not sure what the tax implications will be for my side business. Maybe having earned income and business income will cancel out the tax increase.
Yet a family of 3 tenants at our rental consistently use 10K+ for a bill over $100. I can't figure out how they can possibly use so much; wtf people?
Could be a hidden leak somewhere. My parents rented a house that had a leak in the water main. That didn't become obvious until the middle of the lawn became a soggy mess for no reason. My father dug out the soggy area and found the leak. The water bill dropped after the landlord repaired the leak.
Not sure how popular golf courses are in South Africa. Golf courses in California tend to get exempt from water restrictions. It takes a lot of water to keep those golf courses lush and green during droughts.
While claiming that an username violates the DMCA is an absurd claim, that's not relevant to this ruling.
What the OP left out was the fact that he/she/it created a username based on my author name, reposted my previous comments with slight changes and pretended to be me to troll other users. Other accounts reposted an image from my website on to third-party image websites, linked the newly reposted image to the home page link on their Slashdot account, and then bragged about what they (one person) did. As a business owner contacting another business owner, I gave legal notification under the law and Slashdot responded by deleting a half-dozen accounts.
For the record, I never wanted "cdreimer" on Slashdot. I was perfectly happy with the "creimer" account that I created 20 years ago. I thought the OP would be happy that I was finally using my author name as a username on Slashdot. I guess not.
So the security of this country boils down to "Have you tried turning it off and on again?"
In a nutshell, yes. Most users think they have a God given right to remain logged into "their" computer 7/24, preventing admins from automatically applying patches and updates to protect systems on the network. A reboot is the fastest way to clear a pending reboot state.
Sometimes it's not an individual politician but the system in Washington. Prior to the antitrust action, Microsoft paid zero dollars to Washington lobbyists. After the antitrust action, Microsoft paid millions of dollars to Washington lobbyists. Apple is the proverbial money making tree that politicians love to shake.
Fuck off, he's obviously mentally challenged. You should show some compassion and understanding.
Only in the sense that I've have a head cold. After making 75+ videos for two YouTube channels, this the first time I'm actually in the video. I'm not used to doing the talking head format.
Windows 10 could run on my vintage black MacBook (2006) with a 32-bit processor. The 8-Bit Guy did a video about the 2006 MacBook.

The South is a shithole. No wonder it's 1.75x more expensive than the North.
My apartment complex has 300+ units and just about as many Mexican rats.

Slackware was never a snap when it came to rolling your own kernel modules (circa late 1990's).
Actually, it was Taco Bell. They been making people run for the bathroom for centuries.

When I'm in between cleaning out IT closets. Seriously, how much trouble can a bot get into these days?
At least you have mod points. I haven't had mod points in 15 years. I wonder why...
NASA was supposed to grab an asteroid and return it to LEO when everyone else is planning to go the Moon or Mars.

Last time a developer deleted his NPM packages and broke the Internet.

This time the Internet didn't care when the admins deleted the wrong NPM packages. Progress?
I say thank you and tip generously the senior citizens who deliver pizzas in my area.

That's what happens when you make $50K per year in Silicon Valley cleaning out IT closets.
Time to switch back to AMD. I would rather have a slower video card than a compromised video card.

Time to switch back to Tylenol. I would rather have liver disease than a limp dick.
Alexa, please flush the toilet.
Sorry, Dave, I can't do that until you wipe your ass.
If the probe was sent to Uranus, the soundtrack would be "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds".
