yes, the poster and Jeff Vogel, have hit the nail on the head of the main weakness of MMO. Many people do not really enjoy being a weakling at the start.
MMO use the beginning level as more recent single player games use a tutoral section, or a skippible tutoral section at the beginning of the game. I would really enjoy a one posters suggesting of the begining levels being skippable, for MMO's. Just let me start the start of the Mid Levels, with some minimal midlevel gear and an appropiate amount of money.
Actually, I guess I am one of the types of people the book is describing. I see it as in my best interests, as a System/Network/Citrix Admin, to be able to have Unix Root, Windows Full Domain administration.
It is job security, having management know I have cart-blanch full access to the whole company system, with no big brother security monitoring of my system and internet activities.
Make it harder for any of the CEO/CFO to let me go because they drove the business into a downturn, I make to much salaries, and see my services unneeded because the Systems are setup, running without errror, and the CEO things they can dump the systems mantainces in the lower paided jr admin.

I Agree, I would like a wealthy eccentric to set up us unemployed Sys Admin with Licenses to Kill and Living expenses ALA Martin Blanke In Gross Point Blanke.
We could hunt down and execute the SOB's that pollute inbox with Cheap Meds and Penis Enlargement adds.

Yes, contracting is scary. if you can do W-2, then you don't have to worry as much about estimated taxes.
Roll your 401K into an IRA at a repitable bank or investment firm, be good about puttin money from your contracting fees into you new IRA.

I have been contracting on 4 1-2 day a week projects, paying my bills and gas money ( the gas part hurts)

I agree, if you have money for CAL (Client Access Licenses) on the Citrix and Windows. It is a good supported Thin Client solution. You need to match up the number of Windows Server acess and Terminal Services Cals and Citrix client licenses.
I would vote with the others about a locked down Linix, esp Knoppix, solution for the stations.
Taking out the SBC executive board would take far too lone with a Basball bat. And they're Texans, too Dumb to know they are dead...
Someone needs to send to a board meeting on of those misplaced Russian Thermoneuclear Demolision charge on a short timer...
