I'm not an American, and initially when this story came out a couple weeks ago I agreed with handing over control to the UN. After letting it stew for a few weeks and considering the Pros and Cons, I don't think the UN is ready to take control. Where's my right to smoke marijuana? (Well, In Canada it is kind of a moot point since anyone who wants to smoke casually does, with out any real concern for being thrown in jail.) I forget my point.. which i often do while smoking my drugs... ah well!

This kind of thing scares me. It's unfortunate when Larry Flint has to be an American Hero, but to me he is. I'm just glad i'm not an American. Land Of the free, pfff.. Live how the goverment tells you to, read what they tells you too, and don't question it. Sounds like freedom to me.
Authorities still need a warrent to tap someones line/telephone. So we can still talk about punching Paul Martin in the face all you want. Damn politicians! This really doesn't change a whole lot.. everyone take off their tinfoil hats now.
I noticed 3 comments all similar to this. It struck me, the only reason that anyone is comparing it to organized crime or using henhouse metaphors is because the first suggestion was for "hackers" to protect us.
It sounds like anti-virus companies are charging us protection money already!
Thats part of my point, do we really know how much global warming we are causing? I mean do, we have a frame of reference as to how much the earths temp should be rising? Or is the earths climate in phase where the temp should be rising at all? I'm not trying to make an argument for either side (the pro-oil-burners or the pro-save-the-whales). Just trying to stimulate some thought on the subject.

I know humans are probably causing some of the current global warming that has been going on, but is there any proof that this isn't a normal part of the earths climate cycle? I am all for being careful, and trying to reduce our affect on increasing global warming. BUT. Isn't possible that this IS a normal part of the earths climate cycle? For example the heat up before another ice age?

If science can proven something is true, can't religions and religious fundies simply accept these truthes not only of science, but as God's will. For example.. evolution is simply the method God used to create life here on earth. No conflict. No mess.

The problem with this topic is that you will only get people who have had problems with their optical devices write in. There is going to be a skewed perspective in the replys towards the devices causing a lot of trouble.... i think
