A big problem with the DMCA is that there is no punishment for companies that don't even bother to check to see if the file even violates the DMCA. They just send out cease and desist letters in the hopes to scare people and if the company is wrong, no big deal to them. There is definetly something wrong with this this setup. A scary letter from a big company to Joe Blow makes you feel pretty scared, no one wants to spend thousands in legal fees even if they know their right.
If companies are you throwing out Cease and Desist letters at random by their bots.. How often do they ever actully follow up on them, or do they just send the letter in the hopes of scaring people off.
Maybe this will motivate Microsoft to actually deal with the gaping festering security holes in their OS? How many systems do you think will still be infected after the 15th?
Nahh....
They did deal with this, almost a month ago. But there isn't much they can do if users don't apply the patch.
The easiest way of downloading the patch/fix before getting rebooted is just enable the crappy firewall on your windows internet connnection then connecting to the net and downloading the patches. This way you aren't being rebooted and you have time to fix..
My computer started rebooting itself this afternoon stateing.. "windows must now restart because the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly"
I figured it was a new worm!
Personally Sony is not worth it.

Buying a New TV?

We had sony trinitron vega and it was a good set, but I recently purchased a panasonic 27inch conventional TV (does 480i), while I was comparing the sony vega 27inch I could tell very little (if any) difference. The biggest difference was the price. The sony was almost 40% more then the panasonic. I just recommend you see the tv before you buy.
Seems like the only people that complain about systems are the people who don't own one. I have an Xbox and I love it, but I don't bitch about other systems.
I hate when people claim it's great innovation when a company just combines old technologies. Nintendo needs to innovate! Not just slap a cell phone on a game console on a palm on an mp3 player on a toaster.
The problem is, the stuff they turn to in order to be mature and cool are games where they run over hookers and shoot random people in the streets (i.e. GTA III).
I don't think it's more cool to run over hookers and shoot random people in the streets, it's just more fun to run over hookers and shoot random people in the streets.
Actully.. You may also get charged if your friend drives your car and carelessly gets drunk and kills someone. You could get criminal negligence causing death, but you should have known better then to loan your car to a drunk driving friend.
The RIAA does have every right to sue people for copyright violations. I wish people would stop complaing because the RIAA is "unfair". This is the way America works, deal with it. If you don't like it STOP BUYING and DOWNLOADING their product until the music industry is dead. Otherwise stop complaing about not being able to get their free stuff.
P.S. I posted this story on july 31st but it was rejected..werid that cowboyneal gets the credit..
There is a posability that if the ISP gives out private information about its customers, thus breaking their agreement with their constumers, they could face suits from their customers sued by the RIAA, or even a class action suit by a bunch of customers. Then, they could lose even more customers from the backlash of giving out private information....I'm just guessing at all this.
I have an idea. Lets all just steal the CDs we want from the store. Petty theft crime wouldn't result in a hefty lawsuit and the possability of paying $15,000 for each song!
I enjoy the Xbox, the console has many great games, as well as the best online system of any of the consoles. Do you own an Xbox? if not then what are you basing what you're saying on?
I don't think MS shot themselves in the foot. The have plenty of money, and the games that Rare have put out have been fairly well recieved before. Having rare make games exclusivly for Xbox is not a bad thing for MS.
I was just watching Bush address the national as well as listening to some of our political leaders talk about the war. Since Canada has decided to stay out of the war on Iraq due to the lack of a UN resolution on, will the US look at Canada any differently now?

Virus? Don't mean to nitpick, but isn't this a worm? A windows Worm..?

Sure you patched the computer, but you forgot to get rid of the worm! You still have the worm and it can still send out to others.

XBox? Why bother?

that does Diagonal as well..
The article says he sees students phoning home for money, but if the student has DSL wouldn't he already have a phone line?
SCO claims that air contains IP that SCO developed but refuse to say what exactly. SCO has offered to license air for $599 a year.
So SCO wants to make it CHEAPER to run windows.. This will do wonders for Linux! ...Maybe Bill is behind this whole SCO thing..

With a 16"x9" widescreen, it certainly won't be small.
It's not 16 inches by 9 inches. It's the ratio of 16:9, like widescreen tvs.

I forget who said it, but I think it should hold true.
A societies level of advancement can be measured by the amount of leisure time its citizen have.

$10000??? What kind of wide screen are you buying. We just bought a very nice Panasonic 42 inch wide screen for $3000. ($3000 Canadian too!)
