highlighted the deep relationship between the internet and pornography

What deep relationship? Do people still honestly believe porn is the driving force behind the internet? I guess that would make the few perverts who fund pornographic content the internets steering committee.

Why is this? Is it because TV shows like the Simpsons promote that belief or is it simply the Betamax myth?

It's time for the "sex is evil" meme to die.

    Who thinks sex is evil?

I think you mean the "sex is wonderful and sacred and must not be cheapened" meme.

Sony products adhere strictly to DVD Region coding: corrupt racketeering of the DVD distribution.

    Are you sure?
My 4 year old Sony 5-disc DVD player works just fine and I've played dozens of region 1, 2 and 4 discs in it without any problems, ever.

Sure, it would be nice if it didn't have that awful "cannot skip this advertisement because the studio really wants you to see it" feature, but I don't know of any commercial players that don't have it.

But that's where Mplayer comes in.

Thanks, but that's just a Little Graphics Demo.

A pretty nice Little Graphics Demo to be sure, in fact it won first place at a Little Graphics Demo competition in 2002.

But it's hardly a benchmarking suite, and since it hasn't been maintained since 2002 (it is a one-off for a compo after all), it can hardly be expected to test OpenGL 2.0 extensions.

I guess an fps count in Nexquiz is one way of doing it...

How about $COMPANY-philic? I'm using 'philic' in the sense of the opposite of phobic, an irrational fear.

Or shall we just pretend the meme doesn't exist and maybe it will go away? I can tell you now it won't.

    You misunderstand.

Workplaces that have little or no minority group representation tend to panic and favour minority job-seekers to "improve the balance" so as to be seen as complying with the above act. Sometimes that means overlooking people who might be better suited for the job.

It's not the act itself, but an unintentional but inevitable side-effect.

Sure, most information wants to be free, in the sense that duplication usually requires less energy than actively preventing this duplication. The human mind for example has to work rather hard to put in safeguards to keep a secret. But that doesn't mean it always should be free.
