    You are an idiot.
    Our troops do not commit war crimes, they prevent them. We do everything that we can not to effect civilians but kill the enemy. We do not disclose the information on Bin Ladens guilt becaue we are in a time of war and the same sources that supplied the information to us of his guilt are now suppling us with information on the war.
    If we expose our sources then we cripple our ability to effectively spy on the enemy. Comparing the United States with China and Saudi Arabia is not only so off base it is asinine, but it shows you not to know or care anything about what we stand for as a nation. Educate yourself before you make idiotic statements such as the one you made above.

    Do it, I did, I am in Fargo ND, I had Deluxe Qwest DSL and the charges were almost $65 a month
    OUCH, I ditched that and got free dial up through my job (i work for an isp) and have never looked back. There are sooo many places a person can get fast internet connections for free that it is insane to pay for it. I have full t1 access at work and at school. Plus all my friends have broadband. No reason to go back. I bet mose /.ers could say the same.
    What you can't download fast on dial-up, ya so, download that file at school or work and either throw it on zip or a cd. That easy. Been doing it for months. Broadband sucks. When it gets down to 20 bucks a month, then call me

    That is what alot of kids out in Cali did, then some of them were put into a Cisco Academy. Now most make like 75 a year. IT is just sick to me that CIsco would put up an Academny in California to teach delinquints networking and not put an acadmeny in MY COLLEGE.

    Yes 100% know about apple but none of them think of it as a viable option to windows. Because they would have to buy a different computer.
    If linux was a little easier to use, like the MacOS then maybe people would flock to it,

    If they change it and lock my out of my own account I will have microsoft unlock it again. It only took them 3 days last time.

    I know the general public are too stupid because I have been doing tec support for the last 4 years and talked to over 10,000 people. Most of whom couldn't find their way into the control panel let alone worry about security.

    The problem is microsoft has no viable competiton on the desktop and therefore they are lazy and they know they can put out a shitty product and people will HAVE to use it. People don't blame microsoft when something goes wrong on their computer. They blame the place they got it from or their internet provider

    The vast majority of people out there that use computers are too stupid or just don't care.

    What if Ford put out a car that had major problems that they knew about and yet did nothing and as a result 10,000 car accidents.
    Really is it any different if Microsoft Puts out an OS that they know has major security problems and yet does nothing, then 10,000 people get hacked into and all their info taken?
    There is a difference. If Ford does a crappy job people will go elseware. That is why they don't, they know they have to do a good job.
    MICROSOFT HAS NO COMPETITION WITH THE MASSES.
    95% of computer users out there have never heard of Linux guys. Sad but true. Therefore Microsoft is a Monopoly and needs to be broken up.

    Everyone that cares at all about security already knows that Microsoft doesn't give a rip about security and know better not to use hotmail or passport if they don't want to have that data stolen. I use Xp and passport daily. Why? because they are easy to use and I don't really care if someone gets my password for passport. Big rip, i'll just change it. I use Hushmail for anything I don't want people to see.

    It is MICROSOFTS job to make sure their software works. Because the general public is too stupid to know any better. If they fail to do this the FTC needs to step in and take over

    I got done with my MCSE 2 days before they announced they were going to retire the track.
    They said 2k would be good for at least 4 years. I give it too at the most.
    I was real happy to say the least. I got my CCNA, A+ and Network+ too. Those last for years and years.
    NEVER CERTIFY IN MICROSOFT
    2 years from now you will be studying to certify in Windows YP, yuppie poop.
    The isp I am at now runs linuxon like 10 servers , you know what, the server with 2k crashes. the rest don't
    The government uses *nix stuff for it's most important apps because they know it works and they are not at the mercy of microsoft. They can get a few guy who know their sh$t and give them the code and fix problems instead of asking billy boy to write an OS the meets the C2-Security level.

    At my moms work, if their email servers go down, the whole company shuts down, all 10,000 people.
    People have become too depenedent on email in some cases. They can't do their job without it.
    Every time a new virus comes out the spreads through email they have to shut down the whole system because all the employees are too stupid and still don't know better then to open the attachments.
    But email has improved their productivity by at least 25% and the cost is worth it to them.
    The thing I hate most about email is that it is so impersonal. People fire people though emails.
    They applogize to them thourgh them, ask people out on dates. It gives the anti-social a way to not interact. I hate that

    No, that is not what i am saying, if all you want to run Mac Apps in linux, fine, if you want to run linux on your mac fine, I am not telling anyone what they should be doing with their time, that is their own decision. What i am saying is that it is a waste of valuable RESOURCES in the linux community to be developing things like this when they could be putting that effort toward improving the server side of the OS, remember a few months back when everyone on here got in a big uproar about how linux would never be a player on the desktop, All the /.ers had a great time with that one.
    It is true. The reason it is true is because this whole movement needs focus. It needs to be concetrating for it's survival instead of wasting time on shit like this.

    This is a waste of time for the linux community, how many people do you think are actually going to run linux on their mac. I support what linux stands for in all, I am an avid user but i think that the community resources are better used working on the only portion of the market where linux has a chance. The server side. I read this here before " if all the linux guys had taken all the effor they stuck into developing the software for the mac and the software for the desktop and took it instead and did work on the server side just think of where linux would be now. It would be alot farther, let me tell you.
    I am not thinking negitively. I am just questioning the feasibility of this project

    Their products were all crap. They seem to dump all of their product lines that might acutally do something for them. They got rid of their Destination line 2 years ago. Many Many people went right to them for that. They were great computers. 36inch moniters, wireless keyboards and mice over 5 years ago! Then they got rid of it. Now they dump AMD. Waitt is supposed to be turning the company around but it is doomed.
    His latest ploy to make all the country stores offer Windows XP training will fail.

    The govt will lift these restrictions eventually but I agree that they seem a bit tyranical.
    Eventually people will also see that the computer laws are way too harsh and they will be downgraded. The only problem is that some poor guys are going to have to get sentenced and get the attention of the media first. Anyone even thought about Dimitri lately? Anyone care what happend to him. Before Sept 11th pleanty of you did. Most posts I have read on this topic seem to present a Negative, doom and gloom opinion. I for one have faith in the people of this country. We fear what we do not know. Most Americans know squat about computers and therefore fear them and will not oppose legislation to make hacking a life offence. They do not understand that defacing a web page is on the same level as spraying graffiti on a wall. I guarantee you Ashcroft doesn't, Bush doesn't, and the people that are proposing this are the ones who have been waiting for just the moment to push something like this through.
    It will take time but as the 20 something generation of today gets older and the Boomers die off we will have noone left that will allow laws like this to pass. Patience /.'ers

    You are right, we need to see what will happen first before saying that we have or haven't learned from our mistakes.
    I do agree that we should either invade Iraq or assasinate Saddam. He needs to go and if he died the kurds in the north and the (can't remember thier name) in the south would start a cival war and Saddam would fall. He is sponsoring terrorism too, we know he is. But so is Iran, Libya, and Sudan, so do we have are we at war with them too? According to Bush we are. I think we need to blow something up here within the next week to show the undereducated Americans that we are fighting back. The rest of us who know that patience will help know this does nothing. 10 years from now what does it matter if we struck 1 week after or 5, or 10, all that we will remember is 1. did we get the SOB, and 2. how many civilians did we kill in the process.
    Not how fast we bombed something.
    I am in the Powell camp. Take your time, do your homework, send in the special forces and get him. Then put him on trial in the Haughe for all the International crimes he has committed, Embassy bombings in Africa, car bombs in europe, USS Cole, and the World Trade Center and then either jail him for the rest of his life in a US federal Pound Me in the Ass prison or execute him.

    That is a good move. I bought an athlon 1.2 gig and it was doa, then i got another one, that one was doa too. So i bought a dual 1 gig setup and hooked it all up, fired up the first time.
    Works like a charm. Abit Vp6. Amd's processors are not that much cheaper now with the price cuts on the PIV.
    What I want is and Asyncronous processor. Forget these sycnronous POS's

    First Try this.....
    If you want to show your boss that quality is suffering look at your quailty survey history, if you have one, that will back you up. Talk to other programmers that you work with and see if they agree that quality may be getting worse.
    You have to prove to them that it is a problem, most management will not cut into profits from what just one employee says. You need to have facts to back you up.

    If that doesn't work try this
    Are you a valued employee?
    will they give a rip if you quit? If they need you then you can get away with the "My way or the Highway" bit but if not then you maybe pushing your luck. If you don't know if they value you, you will find out real quick

    My company donates all it's old computers to schools and they use them. a 233 is sufficient to do word processing and browsing the net. It is also a tax deduction. You can also sell the parts to refurb companies or recylce them..
