Proper security includes a triad of: token (card, key, tag) password biometric (fingerprint, retina scan).
Any leg of the triad by itself is vulnerable to varying degrees, but it is unlikely you can acquire all three through simple means.
The military is moving to this model. To logon to a government computer, you insert your ID card (which has a color photo and detailed information, including a scan of your thumb, stored on a chip) into a reader, scan your thumb if necessary, then type in your (hard) password.
They can recycle the Windows 3.1 sound themes that were out in the early 90s. Having Luke say "what a piece of junk!" whenever you had an error, and Darth yell "I have you now!" when you you get a GPF. Those were the days.
It is revealed that Yoda is truly the father of all Jedi. It seems he inadvertantly created them by contaminating the water supply on the countless worlds he visited over the years. Mace Windu delivers the punchline: "Dude, you've got midichlorians coming out your ass!"
Well, I was raised on the original WB cartoons (Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, et al). I was always able to pick out the lighter colored rock that would eventually fall on the Coyote's head. Yet I still managed to be entertained.
It's not about perfect special effects, it's about finding the right balance of enraged villain and lovable smartass good guy.
Agreed. Well said. However, the body can be conditioned much easier than the mind. It's the attitude that usually accompanies the Frito eating that worries me. Does Joe Carbo-cruncher care enough about anything besides his personal gratification to be a good soldier?
Being successful in the U.S. military requires a commitment to a set of values, among them selfless-service, honor, and personal courage. The Army is not a mercenary organization looking for cold-blooded privateers... at least, not yet.
It's called the Service for a reason. I doubt a game could ever capture what that really means.
I, too, was shocked and disappointed when Hobbes turned. He was always my favorite wingman.
Looks like Origin is responsible for producing more than a few IT pros. Between tweaking bootdisks, soundcards, and CD-ROM drives for the WC series, and 10-base-2 and early 10-base-T cards (NetwareLite, anyone?) for Doom deathmatches, I was all set to start my IT career in 1994.
Not sure if this falls into your budget, but Prismiq just lowered the price of their media gateway to $150 if you enter the promo code FALLMP04. I just ordered one today.
Prismiq is a media gateway that searches your network (wired or wireless) for MP3s, JPEGs, and movie files, and displays them on your TV with audio going through your stereo. You operate it through simple menus on your TV with a remote or wireless keyboard.
It might be a good solution for the simple interface you want, and it leverages your parents' stereo system, without requiring a noisy PC to sit in their living room. All you would need to provide is the box that rips and stores the files and make them accessible to the gateway over a network.
I know there was better stuff out then, but this is what I first ran Netscape on:
Packard Bell 486 SX-25 6MB RAM (started with 2) ISA video card, maybe 512K RAM Maxtor 540MB hard drive (came with 120MB installed) Soundblaster Pro ISA soundcard (started with mobo speaker) 10-Base2 (coax) network card, added for playing DOOM with roommate (IPX/SPX with Netware Lite). Windows for Workgroups 3.11 running on top of DOS 5.
It doesn't sound like much, but it played Wing Commander really well.
Getting a TCP/IP stack to load after dialing into the university ISP was a challenge. But then loading Netscape and seeing the comet go by the big N for the first time... heaven.
"Star Wars" is a knights' and princess' tale shrowded with buzz words from science fiction.
Hence the term "Science Fantasy".

AWB is nothing more than feel-good legislation that offers no further protection than the already established laws banning fully automatic weapons... the ones I believe you're actually thinking of.
Semi-automatic weapons, the only kind the AWB covers, are incapable of spraying or blanketing anything. They fire one round per trigger pull, just like a semi-auto deer rifle.
Also, what defines a.30-06 as "designed to kill one deer"? Remember, if it's better at killing one deer (because of its higher caliber and velocity) it's also better at killing one human.
Not completely disagreeing with you. But MMORPGs go well beyond games for a lot of people. They are environments for social interaction with other humans. As such, the word "game" is almost derisive.
And I rarely heard my fellow EQ players 5 years ago call the level grind fun. City of Heroes might be a different story from what I've heard.
I agree. But this is no different than other leech activities. i.e. They depend on a stable system, which they attempt to exploit for their advantage, but produce nothing themselves.
Is it any worse than day trading or betting in Vegas?

No, but Garibaldi did bring the 20th Century to him with WB cartoons, popcorn, and the episode where he and Lineer (sp?) built a circa 1992 Ninja ZX-11, exactly the same, down to the color, as the one in my garage... except for the glowing Mr. Fusion power source.
