I know this is not a binary package like you asked but if you are running Gentoo, to download, compile and install the ivtv drivers you type emerge ivtv
The way batteries can explode these days, I say don't do it!

I don't think you are a troll;
A few years ago, my pc started randomly turning itself off while I was using it.
During the course of swapping parts in an out of the motherboard and trying to boot the computer to see if a specific component was causing the problem (it was the power-supply, duh!), Windows eventually got to a place where it needed to be reactivated.
The network card didn't function anymore because its driver had been uninstalled (???) during the tests.
I didn't feel like spending any time on the phone over it. I felt it was bad enough to have a hardware failure, but even WORSE to have the operating system prolong the crisis for no other reason than it not trusting me.
So I downloaded and burned a Knoppix bootable CD with a different machine and booted my computer with that.
I used Knoppix like that for about a month while evaluating Linux distros.
When I had decided which Linux distribution I was going to go with (Gentoo), I used Knoppix to backup the data from my computer's hard disk over the LAN to a second machine and then using the installation handbook, I partitioned and formatted the drives, downloaded and installed the base system and have never looked back since.
Having to power-down in order for the computer hard disk to cool down for a while so it would become readable again, giving a short time period where it would be possible to copy some data to a few diskettes, power-down when it gets too hot again, (rinse and repeat LOL)...
Fortunately, the hard disk was only 10 MB so it was still possible to get it done in an hour or so.
Learning how to play an instrument could become illegal: When you learn how to play an instrument, you gain the skills to be able to 'reverse-engineer' and copy just about any piece of music. What's to stop you from learning the notes to a melody then?
By the way, I have a buddy who was up until very recently working in Montreal for a fairly big hardware/software firm. His wife got offered a job with Cisco in the US (South Carolina) and they (plus their two children) decided to move.
This meant (for him) abandonning his well-paying, well-established job. I asked him what he planned to do for a job down in Raleigh, he answered "Take care of the kids" "What?" "Yup, that's it, that's all. I've been too busy with a million activities" he went on "I want to take care of my kids" I thought about for a second, smiled and said "Those kids will be luckier than most"
Yeah, allright, but I choose to read these things and be reminded how great it was to be a kid, like how great it was to grow up and become me, because even after all that, you cannot say any season is the best season, they all have their glory, let's not dis the memory...

I can't take credit for it, it's a nod to The Simpsons; the episode where Lisa writes an essay about America and wins a trip to Washington. The contest was sponsored by Reading Digest, whose slogan seemed to be a condensed version of the quote by Shakespeare. I thought that was hilarious: Shakespeare can be quite wordy, but the writers of The Simpsons managed to convey Will's idea while being able to remove 50% of the words in the phrase, just like Reader's Digest purports to do... Hmmm... Maybe I AM a bit too geeky, sorry.
Humour is like colour; I can't explain to you WHY I like blue, I just do. Even if you try to persuade me for hours that red is a much better colour, you won't be able to win me over.
In short, nods to classic bits of comedy coupled with a great sense of absurd and sprinklings of science make a cartoon I love to watch. I love the voice-work in Futurama too, great characterizations.

I know, that sounds sad, even for a geek, but what can I say: Futurama is my favorite show and if you don't like it, you can bite my shiny metal ass.
First they came for my credit card data, since I did not have Visa, I said nothing. Then they came phishing for my bank account info, since I did not have a bank account, I said nothing. Then they came for my porn...
Cheap, non polluting power engines that never wear out AND power my flying car?
*That's when I realized this was all a simulation*
Totaly with you on this.
:-)
I've been running Gentoo for about 3 years. Before I was running Windows.
Gentoo is so much more stable, responsive, easy to maintain and has the best forums I've ever seen.
Like you, the only time(s) I've ever had problems on the machines I have installed it on was always due to hardware or running out of disk space!
It is time to send them some money.
It does address a criticism often directed at Gentoo.
So now, no more waiting to get the tool you need.
Good idea, devs!

So I imagine this approch would be portable to other distros.
"that word, it does not mean what you think it means" or variant in 3, 2, ...
trekspeak and submitted that, and probably still won!

Does that mean that if someone reverse-engineers the bot command set, maybe we can send them all a command to shutdown the service?
Learning how to play an instrument could become illegal:
3 8&tid=141 to write 'hits' and subsequently ram the product down our collective throats.

I suppose if the RIAA had their way they would use software http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/01/18/13292
After all, if they use software to write the music, they no longer need artists.
If they never need to pay an artist, they keep all the profits.
Finally, by discouraging the freedom of sharing of musical exploration and discovery among people, they hope to make us unable to compete.
Good luck to you.
You're an inspiration to many.

Titan will be added to the "Axis of Evil" and there will be accusations of WMDs being hidden by the Titans.

Companies are afraid of what their employees might say over a phone, what they might put in an envelope or carry out of the building.

Open-source too?
A very useful project!
