Gentoo also recently disclosed security breach

Ubuntu Servers Hacked

This isn't the only Linux distro security breach being disclosed recently. One of Gentoo's web applications was compromised and they are investigating it:
A CLI client that supports OTR would be even nicer. OTR has a proxy, but it's GUI-only. While you can run the OTR proxy with a CLI client, it kind of defeats the purpose of not having to need X.
How much energy did it take for the company to make your LED lights? Can you justify your energy savings knowing the initial cost to create them?
The same holds true for any "renewable" energy source, such as solar panels. How much oil went into actually manufacturing those solar panels to earn you savings on monthly energy costs?
How much oil went into the creation of your LED or fluorescent bulbs?
- One-time relocation expense reimbursement - Bump in salary if new location is more expensive than old location (salary calculator) - Assistance with finding a house or apartment
More important is how this will affect your family. Being single will make the decision easier, but being hitched with kids will make this truly a life-changing event.
Why not "employ" the people who subscribe to slashdot to vote on whether an article is a dupe? If an overwhelming percentage of subscribers vote that it is, delete the post and don't run it for the general public.
Unfortunately, most of America associates that song with veteran funerals. I'm sure that was the intention of LexisNexis as well, as it was played during a "funeral" ceremony.
My comment was not directed at you. It was for the publisher of this story, LexisNexis, and slashdot.
Your follow-up to my comment does shed light on your initial comment, too (your sig), so thanks:-)
This article was funny until I read the last paragraph, which mentioned how they played "Taps" during one ceremony.
How fucking dare they. I was at both of my grandpa's funerals, who were both WWII vets. What a slap in the face to my family, to all the WWII vets, and to any veteran of any US war who has died.
I cannot believe a respectable company like LexisNexis, especially with the wealth of information they provide to universities and libraries, could put on such a disgraceful masquerade as a joke.
Thankfully you don't need to be root to run this version, so the damage will be relatively limited when compared with MSFT installations running crap under the Administrator account.
Opening montage of the show is on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Be-ZzcXVLw

Why do people use "nix" or "*nix" when talking about Linux? "*nix" doesn't even glob to "Linux".
The Cansecwest presentation is here.

OTR doesn't use TLS, but it does a great job encrypting conversations. Much better approach than SecureIM by Trillian or gaim-encryption.
How long until the makers and implementers of this device are sued when a driver cannot escape from a raging lunatic or stalker who is in pursuit?
RC1 and RC2 exhibited the same behavior.
They are probably waiting until it airs on TV on the west coast before putting it online.

Hardware: TiVo User's Fears Explored
Tivo only has one user? No wonder they are doing all of this crazy stuff.
I'm guessing the title of the story should say Users' Fears Explored
This is old news and was discussed at ShmooCon in February 2005:

Flippin sweet!

Submitted about 5 hours ago. Thanks for denying it, Hemos.
People can't post anything they want: case in point
Thought-provoking, and some good one-liners.
Minus the "thought-provoking" comment, how dare he rip off every single review of every American movie from the ten years.
There are several funny typos in the interview that foreshadow today's lawsuit-happy world of Linux:
What is your "best guess" of the number of machines ruing Linux worldwide today (Almost "ruining")
Not all of those are active users, I'm sue (Almost "I'm sued")
I think Linus has been playing us for the past ten years.

If only slashdot had a rating of 6.
