    As a scientific God fearing person myself, I was greatly offended. The whole idea of science centers around the idea of intelligent design. Without it, you wouldn't have science to begin with. The article would not be half bad with the needless (and incorrect) remarks about "ID" removed.

    Hmmmmn, lets have a look at the 2005 schedule:

    Two examples (chosen at random):

    • Enhancements to Linux I/O Scheduling
    Did you read the article? It was about how to effectively schedule presentation time to talk about how Linux will achieve World Domination.
    * RapidIO for Linux
    You missed it again. The title on their website is a typo. It was called RabidIO (not Rapid!). It was about using extreme measures against those who are out to stop the Domination of Linux.

    And last but not least...

    If you are a very experienced user... this could be interesting. If you don't think yourself to be a very, very, VERY experienced Linux user, this isn't your book. Even so, again, most things are determined through much, much, much easier techniques.

    Not a great troubleshooting book IMHO. Good book for someone who thinks they know it all.

    I'm a big Lego fan. And when you had to get your Lego bricks from overseas (I'm in the states) it made sense that 20 pieces would cost $10+. But I think they are produced locally now... and so I don't understand why Lego has not reduced their prices. ????

    I use Mega Blocks (the small kind) in a class room setting of about 25 children and have never had any problems. They stil stick hard... so hard that they have a tough time pulling them apart (just like I remember with Lego bricks). I can buy 600-900 pieces for $10 with Mega Blocks. Even if they were of lesser quality (which I have not found to be true), they're still a good deal IMHO. Sure.. they don't have all the trashy Neo Lego (non creative) designs... but I just want bricks... like the good ole days when you had to have some imagination to play with Lego bricks. Nowadays, there are tons of pre formed speciality parts that just take the fun out of Lego bricks. The beauty was in the design using the primitive parts. Mega Blocks still gives you that. There are a few generic kits for Lego bricks.. but the price is 4-10x the price of Mega Blocks.

    Lego is not the company I grew up with (even then, it was worth the money to buy their stuff... but not anymore).

In fact, we're seeing these large former R&D friendly companies switch to making acquisitions of existing ideas and technology rather than experimenting with new ideas and technologies.

    Intellectual challenge? Yes. Somewhat.

    However, most viruses/worms and such are created merely for an emotional high. When you have a company like Microsoft that believes there is no bug or hole until it's made public... there's a natural desire to rip through their "perfect" OS (perfection depending upon whether or not there is a KNOWN exploit out there today).

    It's no different from the high that some get by building explosive devices or setting fire to things. There's a high in taking down that which some feel is indestructable.

    Microsoft is NOT a company that is known for giving out "pats on the back" to people outide of their own private paradise....

    Many times these folks simply want a bit of attention and recognition that they are important.... maybe having a "Don't tell = no bug" and "We know it all" philosophy breeds a spirit of targeted attention getting terrorism..... just a thought.
