    does it actually do anything other than link into toys existing switches?
    The images show the speaker seperate with their voice recording/playback circutry
    I was expecting the actually ROM/RAM to be accessed reprogrammed hacked.

    if it is OS then it will be M$ and people will convert readily to Linux (WooHoo) or its hardware and people will vote with their wallets and simply buy stuff from non major brands.
    Either way this will fail.

    I used to work (partner) for Compuserve in the UK and as a tech/supervisor I was used to telling customers that although they did not use their account they had agreed to pay monthly by clicking the "i agree" button during signup.
    Until one day I went through all this and the guy said "no i did not", taken aback, I advised him that to get a compuserve account he MUST have clicked "I agree", he said not.
    Turned out that when buying the system the helpfull salesman set him up with the account (credit card details and all) and he had clicked "I agree", I advised the customer to take up this issue with the salesman ;)
    Never heard from the customer again.

    In the Compuserve branded small plastic case you get a knife (obviously for trimming over sized VESA boards) philips head and flat head screw driver and of course a hammer, thats right a hammer, that i have found remarkable useful on a number of occasions.

    I have watched all the demos and hidden demos and features and I got to say I LOVE IT !
    Just need to find 4 hours to watch them all again with audio comentry !
    £15 so its cheaper than spiderman or any new dvd at the mo (in uk)

    If I told you I had devised a way of connecting to the internet via the ocean (Im am trying to make a point) you would say hay (if you are american) thats pretty cool, when are you going to have that on the market. I reply (cos it is still in development) 2-3 years.
    So for the next 2-3 years I have my amazing tcp/ip over large bodies of water running just for testing, why should I encrypt? no on else knows how it works I problery have a custom packet handling system etc.
    Same with wi-fi, no one expected everyone to have access to it so soon.
    The wi-fi tills are proberly well over a year old (even if they are new to the store).
    I worked on a number of etransaction systems for orders over the internet between businesses and the number that had no security except the fact nobody knew which URLs were being used was stagering.

    Me and ten of my development colleagues have been given the boot from a large european retailor.
    All the work is being outsourced to India !!
    We had been working on large internal and external systems/projects and with less than 1% of anything documented ....
    Oh, well I wish them luck :p
    I am off to my new much better paid job (alot better paid).

    I never read a news paper and I rarely watch the news on TV.
    I get small amounts of news off the radio but the majority from the net (bbc/yahoo etc).
    And although I am not interested in a book about dogs I think the guy has a point, why use a marekting medium that does not target the demographic you want (presuming he wants to target geeks and the mid youth market).

    The idea that the opt-in is for 'sensitive' information and opt-out for 'non-sensitive' information should apeal to most people.
    The problem lies in what is 'sensitive' information and 'non-sensitive' information.
    It can vary wildly based on context and how the data is processed (the old, unique Id is the only directly identifing feature but link it to too many data references and you have the complete individual).
    If you think about it, the proposal can never be policed.

    [ ] Always trust software from Micro$oft Corp

    Of course I always refuse but many people do not and they click the box to always trust and it never asks them again, and then they complain!

    you would like RTCW (Return To Castle Wolfenstien).
    I played through the whole single player game in normal difficulty and found that planning and stealth were my best weapon (and the most fun !).
    Of course you could just run through the levels blazing wildly and the stealth option does not always work in multiplayer (but it can be rewarding :) )

    I hope more game like this come along soon.

    Debian is the first Linux distro I have ever installed and had no problem with it on ancient p200 with mainly ISA slots. (NOV 2000)
    Except I had some grief with the SB AWE32 but thats another story :)

    The original original this styly of game on the BBC micro.

    I remember the last incarnation "Repton Infinity" alowed you to even script objects and actions.
    But he had many adventures before that, "Repton through time", "Repton somthing or other ...." (I seem to have 4goten)

    you seem to be granting the military with a lot of intelegence (pun intended).
    I hate to break it to you but they are just Human and humans make mistakes.
    I think the most likly one in the .mil enviroment would be old and unknown systems on the network that should be better protected and are not.
    And going back to your everything is protected by handscaners and fancy whot nots, so you can not get in via the front door, there is always a back door (not necessarly just in software) and there are alway people who want in the back door, and will pay for the privialage.

    (readin Xbox is VERY expensive)
