So, compile it on windows.

I'm sure you will find that it is much more painstaking... While your at it try to find a free firewall for windows. Or a free up to date compiler. Good luck;-)
Btw, desktop users aren't supposed to have to compile things. They don't have to upgrade to the new version of the gui, just like they don't upgrade to a different IE on windows.
Um, compiling Linux! Duh.
integer operations are important also, which apple seems to forget about.
More importantly though, I can upgrade, without getting a flashy new case.
Can't compete (sorry about the spelling)... it seems to make sense when Apple says it. Athlons are known for floating point speed, which is why Apple will not run a test against amd, they still don't have anything that will beat it.
Really I'm not against the PPC platform, but it seems like everyone is, unless it's a mac. Slashdot excitement is big on the XBox (a microsoft based x86), but nobody seems to care about the GameCube. Which would obviously be a better choice for the server market.
I was not intending to downsize BSD.
much of what you say is true, though Apple is also based on Mach os.
My point was that Linux really started taking off after it was declared "dead", and so did the slackware distribution.
I'll use BSD once it can compete with Linux in the workstation department, or when I get a hold of a extra server.
btw, it's kinda hard to look you up when you post ac.
The truth is, Intel isn't that much slower than the G4's for content creation (if at all), it's mostly just a matter of lack of optimization. But 1.4ghz athlons REALLY smoke a P4 2.2ghz on raw FPU performance (nearly twice the speed). In my figures Motorolla still has some catching up to do to compete with a AMD processor released in march. (not to mention AMD's upcoming ~2ghz models, or the x86-64).
G4 is not 128bit. nuff said... though it was kind of stupid to mention that the G5 is 64 bit, considering that even G3's are. Truth is, even with the processor being 64bits, it can't compeat with a lower clocked athlon 32 bit.
I am sorry for my raging reply, and for it's incorrectness. Yes, Israel was driven out of Israel by their enemies because they turned away from God, not because of "stupid nazi's".
I also need to say that I'm of German nationality, and therefore I hold nothing against the German people, just the Nazi ideas of the past.
It seems that some people have been saying that Linux is dieing for quite some time. BSD didn't take long to catch up. Fact is, they wouldn't be so insistant on it if it was true, who cares if it's dieing if it really wasn't any threat in the first place?
Your point on NetCraft was good. Though *BSD isn't used on Webservers much (all that netcraft can determine), I have friends who use BSD for routing quite a lot, and due to the good ipv6 support I might use it for routing also if I had a spare box. Mostly I just don't have time to fool around with getting stuff working "desktop-like" on my machine, and my mom wouldn't appreciate it.:-)
I have a super-comfortable Futer Power optical mouse, this mouse is designed mostly as a both-handed. It is identical on both sides, and it's comfortable for me (I'm right handed), but because it's the same on both sides, it will probably be for you. (btw, it's one of the cheapest optical on pricewatch.com).
He attempted it before, and I belive civilians were killed that time, I'm perfectly OK with the idea that Iraq was behind it, (Hey, why should they like George Bush's son?) but this guy Osama Bin Ladan is training terrorists who's goal in life is to kill as many of us as possible.
More than likely though, Iraq, Afghanastan, Palistine and possibly others were involved.
Sorry to flame, but Maxtor is worthless. Show me a Maxtor and I'll show you a peice of trash. I sent in a drive under warranty that stopped working... They send back another one that doesn't work.
There are so many bad comments here, it's not even funny.
1. Israel vs Palestine
Israel was there first and the stupid Arabs took it after Nazi's took the country. Israel is going to win with, or without our help, the more we help them the more WE will be blessed. (Economy has been pretty good scince WWII hasn't it?)
2. Peace?
You can't have peace without Justice. End of subject. There's obviously massive planning in such a well-executed plan, and likely both Arafat, and Afghanastan.
3. Koyoto.
Koyoto is the most stupid idea ever thought up. Make the us lower CO2 but not China (who puts out more than us) Koyoto is NOT liked by other counties, only the super-liberals in some countries, and Chinese (guess why). And second, Global warming isn't an Issue. Things get Colder over time, not Hotter. The thermometers they test with are 200 miles apart, the fact that a swimming pool can be different temperatures 20 feet away doesn't make it look very acurate.
The chances that a truckload of fertilizer could blow the whole building is extremely remote. Plus Timothy wouldn't plea "guilty" if he really did it.
Yeah, he may have been hired by Arafat, but he didn't blow it up, that was done by an Arab.
You own your own face, the government cannot afford to use this technology, we'll all just charge $500k, and then they'll stop using it.
I don't think that you should even have to copywrite your own apperance.
Scince noone else seems to be posting facts, I will.
USB2 is backward compatible to USB1. Firewire isnt.
Firewire 2 is not 800Mbps, it's 3.2Gbps.
So, for the most part, USB2 will takeover the low-end high-band market, and Firewire2 will replace gigabit ethernet, and possibly SCSI.
Good news for competition?

Personally I kinda see it the opposite, the technology from both of them will probably be merged , even if they don't change names. If it's a matter of big company loyalty, they could just put different stickers on each one:-)
The Linux kernel documentation states that you could use 16gigs, or more, by using high memory, of course, you can only access 1gb at a time, but that's all done at the kernel level, so unless it's being used for something like dma, it won't really matter.
So what if the normal user can't use Linux, they can't use Windows either. Face it, Redhat 7.1 is much less trouble to install than Windows, fact is that the Average user doesn't understand Windows either, so Why rant about why they don't understand windows also? When the pc manufacturers come to an agreement to not ship windows anymore, we will be rid of that problem. Here's why.
IBM, Compaq, and HP have reasons to dislike Microsoft, they make up probably nearly half of the manufactured computers, throw in companies like gateway, who would do it just to make an extra $100 (windows is expencive), and you leave people having to get a specialist to install windows for them, or have one custom built! Linux could work on the desktop through that route, or by apealing to the gamers (convince id software to no longer support windows). Of course other game companies would follow.
Why would that help? think about windows 3.1 vs dos... 3.1 had better office stuff, better internet capability, and it was easier to use. Yet, Dos was still the major setup, until windows 95 came along, and supported games, well. Which is still the only thing that windows9x/me does better than anyone else.
Who cares if you can't make any fair amount of Gold usig them, patent them, and make everyone else pay you! Just tell them the microbes were harvested in your IT department.

Maybe you should sign in before you say I don't know what I'm talking about.
Also why whould the FBI withhold evidence? Especially considering the risk involved in doing so.

First, even though Sklyarov was using a US server, he isn't a US citizen, so he shouldn't be judged by US laws. But that's not really the point.
If he plead guilty, he would be admitting that what he did was wrong, not that it was in violation of the DCMA
Supporting Linux would be giving money, or developing the drivers themselves. They aren't even giving out the documentation. Very bad.
