Im in Northern Idaho, and usually we have a pretty good amount of snow, starting around Thanksgiving.. Our ski mountains around here didn't even open up until around Christmas.. and there is still no snow on the ground in town (im at about 2500ft above sea level).. Im not sure whats going on either but it was a bad year to buy a snowboarding pass =(

How can you expect anybody else to keep a secret that you cannot.
This is just a guess.. the website said, "yet organizes the light to aid its conversion to deliverable electric current" which makes me think that if you used a polarization filter which let a fairly large amount of light thru it, yet was all "organized" it would be easier to convert the light to energy. I'm guessing what they mean by organized is that all the light passing thru the filter is aligned, as howstuffworks.com is saying..
I really dont know much about this at all, but it sounds plausible =P..

I recently had a job where I supported wireless keyboards and mice.. it was in a big cube farm, and alot of the other techs had this equipment to help troubleshoot it..
Anyway, for about a week straight, every day when I would come in, I would have netscape open, emails open, etc..
I had originally thought that someone was messing with my pc at work when I was gone, but at the end of the week, the offending person was there and used his mouse and it controlled my keyboard... With those first ones we had to, there were only 2 channels you could use, so its a bad idea for any sort of mid-large company..
They are now making bluetooth keyboards / mice and are supporting them there, I don't work there anymore though so don't have much of an idea if it works better...
Im still pretty sure that the DMCA was done by a voice vote, and the people who voted were not recorded...
I found the dates that the DMCA was introduced and what not, and near the bottom it mentions that there was a voice vote. Now if this is the actual vote by the Senate on the bill or not, its hard to say, as I don't understand it much, but I did not see any other links or anything that described a roll call, or any sort of formal vote..
My main concern, is that independent producers/composers/moviemakers will be locked out of distributing digital content
After reading thru these posts, I was starting to wonder about this myself. I use cool edit pro / sequbeat pro, and a few other "music" type of programs to get my guitar / bass recorded on my computer. How will these tracks be treated on a Palladium computer?
I guess my question would be, setting aside all benefits that a corporation / company might get out of palladium, what is in it for the end user, especially when it comes to end user created material?
My computer case (The same case that alienware is using for their new pcs) has 4 fans in it, with an AMD 1800 w/ big fan..
I never realized how loud my computer was until one day when I had to shut it down to put some new hardware in, and my room was utterly silent. Ever since that day, my computer seems to be a bit louder because im noticing it now..
And I really wish we had a fry's here where I live, I miss that place..
I used to work for a company who contracted support from microsoft. Many of our products used the Windows Installer (tm), which is the most messed up system I think ive ran across... If you've seen installshield, there is never anything wrong with it, but if you mess up the Windows Installer, you could get yourself into some trouble...
I think what seemed to work the best was a program that we had that pretty much blew out anything talking about the Windows Installer (we called it "zap it" or something to that nature) SEemed to fis many of the problems that were just bizarre, and im pretty sure its available for download someplace..
Actually no, you saw the cartoon on the Tracy Ulman Show, and no, it wasn't that good, but it was a great break from seeing tracy ulman try to entertain the audience...
They first were on the Tracy Ulman (sp?) show as a little 5min crudely done cartoon. I can remember the first year it went from that to a 30min show, which has now turned into the greatest cartoon series ever created =).
This is an article on how to build a sub box, not the speaker itself. Many people build their own sub boxes, this is a pretty nice one from what I can see, but its not much different then whats in the trunks of many people across the world today..
And you should understand what political correctness is and isen't before you use it as a generic catchall to bash everything you don't like.
Oh I understand what political correctness is. Marijuana is illegal for only political reasons. I say this because alcohol is legal and it is a much more dangerous drug. There are some very big players involved that do not want marijuana to be legalized, mainly because of hemp (think dupont). So yes, the only reason why him having this image on his website is because it doesn't jive with today's politics. If you have ever seen Super Troopers, or many many other movies which put marijuana in a different light then being 'a bad thing' then you might understand. Who gives a flying f*ck if he has a legalize marijuana image on his website, its his website, and its his hobby. And im wondering why you think I use this term, "political correct" to bash things I do not like, I don't post much, so I doubt you have read my previous posts. Ah well, too much time spent on an AC..
"Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted."
- Albert Einstein (1879-1955)
Id really say he can put anything he wants to up on his website that is showing off his 'hobby'. We really shouldn't let political correctness control the way we live, and especially control our hobbyist nature.
comes to the lgames website, and is immediately assaulted with this image?
I also find it amusing that you would be immediately assaulted by an image of a pot leaf. I didn't even notice it when I first went there, I had to go back and look after reading your post..
Im getting both also. I will probably watch it another 10 times or so between now and when the better one comes out, so it will be cheaper for me to buy it anyway...
Btw.. Hastings, a store where I live at, stayed open until midnight to sell LoTR. I went there at midnight, and there was a guy there who had a Hastings ad, and a Best Buy ad, and LoTR at best buy was like 16bucks. In the hastings ad, they had a little thing saying that they would match any advertised price of anything in the leaflet. The lady that worked at hastings saw this and was pretty mad because it was cheaper then what they were getting them for from their distributer. Unfortunately, she did not let me do the same thing because she said I needed to have an ad as well, which it didn't say on the leaflet at all, which kinda pissed me off. Ah well though, great movie!
The main benifit of course would be having linus. Throw in the transmeta technology after that.
I really don't see how this would benefit a ps3 though, sure Linus is an amazing fellow, but I really don't remember him having much insight into the gaming world. I think they would be better off buying ID, and having some chip designers sit down with John Carmack or something to that nature.
The really scary thing about the whole sony/linux relationship is the parent company Sony is also Sony Records, one of the biggest supporters of DRM and the DMCA. It's kind of odd that they would support an open O/S that will never have DRM in it, makes me wonder why
I really don't see why its scary, they can't really do a lot when it comes to trying to sneak drm into linux distro's or something. Sony owns Sony Records, as well as Sony Entertainment (or whatever the gaming console section is). Saying Sony is also Sony Records is fluffing up Sony Records a bit I think, and seeing how Sony has a ton of mp3 type of products (they have an indash cd player for your car that will rip mp3's to the hard drive built into the cdplayer when you play cds in your car) that the wishes of the RIAA and Sony Records are not going to preach what products and technologies the rest of Sony is going to look at and invest in. Sony is a big company, which warrants being scared, but I wouldn't wory too much. Sony also supports the PalmOS which I do not think supports DRM either..
It really shouldn't matter at all. If you can't tell the difference between.1 and.10, then the story is probably not going to interest you that much anyway. Why don't we write.130, or.1300000000... its because the 0's are useless information that just takes up space.. kinda like these posts =P
Seems to be getting a lot of support lately, and its fairly easy to model something and put it into a game that supports it..
http://www.discreet.com/products/gmax/
You also might want to look at Cg from Nvidia if you want more control over how stuff looks when rendered, although its not a modeling program. From what I understand it would give people better control of the hardware, and it probably makes it fairly easy to use the pixel and vertex shaders..
400Mhz DDR also doesn't exist yet, you are thinking of 333Mhz DDR. And though RIMMS have a higher clock speed, they use a narrower channel (4-bits?). You sound like some OCing game phreak who gets information from tomshardware.com.
Go ahead and check pricewatch.com, you can buy 433Mhz DDR memory there. The new Nforce2 motherboards from Nvidia are going to support this faster ram.

The new Winamp can play video files as well, so its a multimedia player.

Yea, on my card it says to check id, but out of every 10 or so purchases I make, maybe 3 will actually check id.
