    I think the higher salaries are being phased in. So, I don't think the full $70k has been implemented yet. They are getting the benefit of the publicity, but not the full pain of the increased salaries. We have yet to see if the $70k salaries are sustainable as the business expands.

    No, the issue would be that you need to pay in US dollars. So, you still need to take the hit on the exchange rate.

    Plus, think about all that extra heat that isn't bouncing off the planet back into space anymore. Maybe we can just put the light bulbs above the solar panels and solve global warming that way.

  15. So, there would be millions of examples of other brands of cars on the road right now doing the same thing. Great, they can be tracked down. However, that seems unlikely. Are you sure the industry has been doing this "since the 1990s?" It would be very easy to verify.

    Unlike helium, I don't think hydrogen escapes from the atmosphere. Rather, it will hang around for a while, chemically active, and eventually be oxidized back to water (whether or not it burns).

    Can we wait for examples, maybe from Europe, before jumping into this ourselves? Let's see a large-ish country like Germany offer basic income to all its residents (plus to all influxing refugees). If things improve, other welfare programs disappear, and everything becomes efficient and hunky-dory, maybe we can try it here (we can start in Vermont and California).

    It does seems like a good idea to fall on the side of personal freedom in any particular area until we are sure that it's a bad idea. The alternative, logically, would be to fall on the side of government control, until we are sure we don't need it (and then probably not remove it anyway because it has become so entrenched).
