I was going to moderate this topic but there is something you guys need to know. A while ago there was a lawsuit by some group that proposes building safety standards and such and lobbies state and local govt to institute them into law. This group claimed it was still copyright after they lobbied to get it enacted to law.
Also currently (it appears) that laws are not copyrightable. Why this is trying to be pused thru is beyond me. To make a quick buck for govt? to prevent unfettered access? To use copyright law to prevent the publication of laws for 'national security'? Gives me the willies.
Frankly I dont think anyone in charge of this wants a paper trail. To wax conspiratorial for a moment, non-auditable, hackable, and unverifiable electronic voting it going to give 'them' the ability to hand elections to whomever 'they' want. The voters be damned. I'll warn you now.. there are going to be very dire consequences to this.
Well voyager certainly has incredulous work, incredible? not so much. The show suffered from every bad plot device there was, bad acting and so on. Example 'Tuvix', going on star trek physics, such an episode is plainly impossible.
well as us peons sit on the sidelines watching patents get rammed thru by the guys over at the USTPO, i wonder how many of these suits is it going to take before these big companies ask for the system (that they wrongly profit from - amazon) to be changed. It does mean the gravy train ends. Now many annoyance suits are the bug boys gonna have to be slapped with before they lean on the govt to not allow people (including themselves) to abuse the system?
Really in the larger scheme very lawsuit against a big firm for a patent cranks up the patent annoyance factor and mebbe it will get someone to get off their ass eventually.
I know im not tired of it. I find it increasingly fascinating the machinations SCO will go thru very time. Commenting on things that need no comment. Answering questions no one asked, making up evidence that doesn't exist.
Its kind of like watching the corporate version of that NYC subway shooter from years ago who defended himself. One of the many things he did was to ask the witnesses to ID the person that had shot them and they all pointed to him. among other amusing bits.
We all know full well that the/. effect can kill all but the most well supported sites. Perhaps something radically different is in order. Perhaps an akamai like p2p fallback system.
before a small site gets listed on/. and get obliterated into ether the maintainer could allow the site to be mirrored and then sent out to some temporary storage sites for.. oh say a few days, and then when the referrer is/. then the content can be served up by one of the ac hoc distributed mirrors?
Well the earth is on time due to the massively successful launching into space of all the world's boy bands and all that casts of all the reality shows.
Well im big on animation and off the top of my head I can only name a few US made animated shows with anything resembling plot and that dont make copious use of the history eraser button, not to mention the "think of the children beat you over the head with a moral lesson" crap so prevalent in US toons. So I predict I and many many others are going to be watching anime for a long time to come.
Well put, perhaps the best thing to learn from this is that all of this at the moment is just useless posturing. until all the 64bit fu is done and optimized there is gonna be a bunch of *'s next to everything.
"Who does not want to use iTunes? Someone who wants a player to listen to their.wma files. Someone with a digital music player other than an iPod. Someone who wants streaming music"
Dammit you mean all that streaming music i have been listening to in iTunes was in my head the whole time. Well at least im a lot more creative than i thought i was:)
Hmm a lot of tracks by John Denver. I guess its safe for walmart to sell that anyone who would likely be offended would be put to sleep before they could do anything.
There is a *lot* of crap out there. I has occured to me of a way to do something about it. Im thinking a space mirror, this would be put in earth orbit, it would reflect sunlight tangentially in earth orbit, this would heat up the smaller thing like paint bits and shards of meta and put them lower into the atmosphere and cause them to deorbit and burnup.
What happens in the RIAA fantasy world when these canadian are paying for music that htey cant get because the **AA has shutdown all the music sources.. the riaa keeps the money? and the ppl are paying for nothing? Welcome to techonfeudalism.
Ok, let say this decisions stands. If they continue to claim copyright violations in linux they still have to tell what is violating so the infringement can stop. So who can they get damages from if they dont. Cant they claim damages from IBM for any time *before* they show the code to the court. Can they claim that the code cant be removed by IBM because doing so would show everyone what the code was? And can they continue to charge a license for a 'mystery' product? Assuming they win will the eff or some linux company sue to open the documents?
Ya know if you skinned them with Darl you might not feel so bad about your ping:)
hehe indeed,
there are some reasonable uses of customer information. I believe a recall is one of those.

clearly time travel will never exit because someone would go back in time and beat to death the bbc ppl who trashed all the old dr who episodes.
too bad unless you are a corporation or blindingly wealth due process isnt a thing you can get.

While this post is funny, this is so far the 2nd (that i know of) excuse like this.
SCO has opened up the chewbacca defense.. oh well we didnt infringe on GPL someone must have stolen our code and you used it.
The only way to put an end to this is suing with extreme prejudice. one or 2 asshat gets shot down with this and it'll stop getting used.

What happens if everyone says "no i never put unix in linux" then where does SCO claim the code came from?
Well the earth is on time due to the massively successful launching into space of all the world's boy bands and all that casts of all the reality shows.
I mean NASA did actually get that done right?
Well color me radical, but im leaning toward death for him

Perhaps the mothership is going to transmit down a bunch of unsolicited email to buy viagra for martians(tm).

as i recall steve said apple made nothing on the iTMS
that 25 millions bucks in the pockets of the riaa. Hopefully apple is building up good karma that will kick in later.
