A Houston construction boss was interviewing men for a job, when along came a Louisiana Cajun. "You gotta pass my test first", he told the applicant. "Here's your first question."
"Without using numbers represent the number 9." "Without numbers?" the Cajun says. "Dat's easy," and proceeds to draw 3 trees. "What's this?" the foreman asks. "Well, tree and tree and tree make nine," says the Cajun. "Fair enough," replies the foreman. "Here is your second question. Use the same rules, but this time the number is 99." The Cajun stares into space for a while, then picks up the picture of the three trees and makes a smudge on each tree. "Ere you go." The boss scratches his head and says, "How on earth do you get that to represent 99?" !; "Each of da trees is dirty now! So dirty tree and dirty tree and dirty tree. Dat is 99!"
"All right. Last question. Same rules again, but represent the number 100." The Cajun stares into space again, then picks up the picture again and makes a little mark at the base of each tree, and says, "Ere you go. One hundred!" The foreman looks at the attempt. "How in the world does this represent a hundred?" The Cajun leans forward and points to the marks at the tree bases, and says, "A little dog come along and crap by each tree, so now you've got dirty tree and a turd and dirty tree and a turd and dirty tree and turd, and dat make one 'undred.
Another interesting thread modded down by the slashdrones. I was able to read your reply because I had Troll multiplyer at +5. Sure it gets alot of the goatse, gnaa's, and first posters, but to me your post is "insightful"
I have recently did a mathematical paper in LaTeX and included a couple approaches of converting LaTeX to other text processors. My HTML conversion process worked fairly well using OpenOffice. But then when I took that OO doc which I save as a.doc file within OO and opened it up with a Word in both Windows and Mac versions, my maths were completely mangled, missing, or destroyed. I am now left with attempting to do RTF conversion, which prelim results show to handle maths a little better.
That one ordeal I went through just helps re-enforce my position to side along with you on the matter. I don't know much anything about these pivot things, but it seems that it can be easily achieved using the OO alternative since it's basic matrix math manipulation. Apparently, the slashdot drones have succumbed to the mindless borg advertising that is and the sheer numbers rule the moderation system of slashbots. And that is notwithstanding anything to say about the editors. I feel for ya bro!
FWIW, set your preferences for Trolls at +5 modifier, and you'll find some interesting posts!
I'm a complete sports geek, I know an oxymoron in slashdot circles because I was good too. However, baseball has always been my favorite, but poor eyesight in my left eye didn't allow me to progress as the pitches got faster even with pleading to the coaches to let me bat left handed when I could at least hit the ball for a base hit but not for power.
Now a days I'm fascinated by the little game between pitcher and batter. Not too many good match-ups because of so few good thinking pitchers. And Albert Pujols has em all figured out so maybe finally he'll win the MVP this year instead of a BALCO sponsor.
So you think your logic board is failing, or your combo drive is not recognized, or you got the perpetual spinning beach ball, you've repaired permissions, etc., what do you do? You reset the PRAM while holding down the Command+option+p+r
Now thats an exercise in keyboarding dexterity and fustration control.
I have to agree on that sticky brain issue. What a mess, good grief charlie brown I didn't want to read another UNIX manual to figure out how to use some software. I'm 'sticking' to the good ole fashion 'stickies' that come with OS X. I really like how simple stickies are to use and close them out it automatically saves what you have on your sticky. Ah sure you windows or linux peeps have had them before but not installed default with your OS like your Solitaire so go back and flip your cards.
Quote 1. The majority if not all of the bit errors that ECC corrects are caused by thermal noise. Thermal noise is an issue in a cluster of rack mounted 1U units due to the difficulty of cooling such tightly spaced units generating so much heat in so small a space. It is not an issue in a cluster of DESKTOP machines utilizing a Liebert system with way more cooling capacity than is needed./Quote
Why is it necessary then to jam 1U units stacked on each other? If you can get the same performance and storage capacity as 18 months ago with half the hardware and size, then leave gaps in the 1U's and provide venting or sometype of cooling system that allows flow over each 1U unit.
this sucks - the OOo thing anyway. I got jumpy on the postin. I would like to help out, but I couldn't program my way out of a brown paper sack.

I took a diff eq class that finished with 6 people. I then took a complex class that had about the same amout before I dropped out because of real world commitments (9/11). I don't think it's because of room, other than schools that are specifically for the engineering studies. There is just not the interest.
I've said this a dozen times already, but I guess I'll say it again. There are plenty of people willing to pay the full retail box price and still pay the monthly fee for these games.
Dumbasses!!!! Now I must go back and monitor my stocks.

Back in my college days, living in a house with a few other guys we had a bad ant problem. We first thought that maybe we should clean up the week old chinese food and yesterday's pizza, but that did not work. It got so bad that we were obsessed with our clean living habits in the kitchen. Finally, after living with a new cleaniness lifestyle we were able to track the source of the ants. They were making homebase in the base station of the cordless phone unit. Apparently, they were attracted to the glues on the PCB in the phone base unit. It certainly wasn't the main 'ant house' which had to be outside somewhere, but it was definitely the main place where they made their mystic ant communications to invade the rest of the place. This is no joke, once we elimated that phone base station our ant problems were no more.
What state or combo state lottery ticket do you want to win? Even if you win that lottery ticket, you don't even come close to Billy's wealth.
To the previous poster, you forgot about the consumer. The consumer now knows who and what Microsoft is about, especially big business. Businesses are trying to find all kinds of ways to rid them selves of them licencing fees. To us basement geeks thats easy; open source. The home market has shifted away from pc's and into the 'all encompasing entertainment console' which it seems Sony is the most active in that pursuit.
But jeez, Billy's got so much money, he can't even keep up with giving it away.

So when do I start work?"
I eventually want to do WS100.
so I do a lot of trail running and soon will do my first Ultra!
That seems ancient?
is there is a difference?
or maybe not, since I've not looked into the formal definition of robots, but I always believed that robots were autonomous.
Is it redundant if I say that this story is a dupe?
doesn't he feed on cats?

Whats next, I can't figure out the alphabetic algorithm used here? Oh, well I guess I not smart enough to be a google engineer.
Indepedent research analyst META Group found that Linux costs are not lower than Windows.
Does Linux add up to lower TCO?
Ask the experts.
Although Linux OS is nominally free, the overall costs far outweigh the up-front costs.

or winex or whatever is the latest and greatest working yet in test3 or for that matter in 2.6.x yet?
