"Actually, that does sound pretty good, would you pay, say $59 a month or something for unlimited mp3s? I might..."

I was watching CNBC earlier today and they had a quick forum about p2p with the ceo of wippit.com and a few others. The ceo claimed your very concept with his product. However, I was not able to find any pricing information at their site, other than references of needing a subscription for the service to work in the faq.

  7. Fuji 3800 and xD card details on Flash Memory And Its future · · Score: 1

I recently bought a Fuji 3800 after reading many reviews and especially Steve's site that you mention. The xD cards are very small indeed. I just measured it (no not comparing it to my penis) 2.5 cm X 2.0 cm. It is thin, but yet rigid. There is signicant amount of contacts space on one side, in fact about half the size of the card on one side is electrical contact space. I have 2 of these cards, one 16mb and another 64mb. I too am led to believe that they can scale to very large sizes considering the size. On the non-contact side it has the fujinon imprint, logo, tm, etc, however, on the contact side in very hard to read embosed letters it has "Japan" "by Toshiba" along with extremely small seems to be computerized, or laser printed serial number. All this extremely close inspection of my card has revealed that the contacts actually have scuff marks to where they make contact inside the camera.

I've been using RH 7.3 because it works for me. Mostly internet browsing and wireless access point. The wireless was not quite fully supported but it was easy as heck to set up, so now I got a box that does nat, wireless ap to my ibook and my pops windows machine, and I got an old version of winex for that occasionally diablo or starcraft fix (which I have to remind myself how much I'm wasting time on playing games; another issue). And I just downloaded moz 1.3 stable after using 1.1 forever. I had slight problem with java and read in the release notes to make a symbolic link to that jvm file thingy rather than copy it to the moz directory. Sometime ago RH 8 came out, but why should I upgrade to that? Everything works fine for me. So I don't know anything about how RH 8 works, so I'm not going to 'slag' anything about it. I'm not even sure I'm using your slag term correctly. Suse, I'm sure is a fine product, I was certainly impressed when I was shipped a 6.3 version when I ordered quake 3.6 for linux through that linux game company way back when, so much so that I went out and bought suse 7.1, it worked for awhile but was lacking some small details. Point is that it was all a matter of timing, and I'm sure is still timing, for those of us really cheap users that don't want to spend for Enterprise Versions, but yet want to support the community in some way or another and don't really have any coding skills. So we occasionally buy a box set, but not every time a new version comes out.

But what I really want to know is why the hell my fuji 3800 digi-cam doesn't not work in webcam mode for mac osx; that really ticks me off that it is windows only. (I've got live free pr0n to show)

  13. Wizardry on First Red Hat Academy for High School · · Score: 1

I suppose that we are showing our age by admitting that we had Apple II's for school, ah but those were the days. I was about one of the only kids in our school that had an Apple IIe at home and thus was very proficient in all the user apps.

Of course, we all learned how to use Apple DOS (both 3.3 and ProDOS) - we^H^Hthe rest of the class did this for a solid month, during which time I was permitted to play Choplifter, Cannonball Blitz, and Ultima V because I already knew how to use Dos... which *really* pissed the rest of the class off...

One other geek kid in our school had a hacked wizardry disk full of elite items, so all you had to do was roll a char with good base attributes and then load up on the uber gear. Eventually, the game crashed and it showed code. This peaked my interest in programming and thus learned pascal, because the turtle language that they were teaching wasn't doing much for me.

Congratulations, you used the correct English plural form of box. But, if you want a slashdot readers opinion, you should have used the incorrect but quite often cited term of boxen. In fact, if you do a search on google for boxen, you will notice that the first few pages of sites return german references. However, I'm not up on my german, but it may well be plural in the german language. Perhaps, those that are incorrectly using it are german and thus need to be politely corrected on the correct english usage.

I'm also a convert but didn't fully convert until about 2001. Up until then I quite often dual booted ever since I learned about linux in 1996, primarily because internet browsing (IE was just so much easier to use, until I've now gone MOZ) and games. But now my main machine is a Redhat 7.3 and an ibook with OSX 10.2. I'll have to agree with all those OSX users out there that this little ibook is AWESOME! But it is not my main machine (yet?) I am so acustomed to using a big ole box with a 19" 50lb monitor with a IBM model M keyboard dug out of a dumpster. As far as the games arguement; I've finally realized after playing too much diablo2 (wineX version even) that gaming is a total waste of time, but still occasionally that itch comes along to waste the time and I have an addiction to KDE klines. I even learned to code enough to hack the source code of klines so that I could play with a bigger board or more or less balls. Also there are alot of other quite addicting games that come with almost any major linux distro especially kde. What do you get with windows? sol, freecell, pinball and minesweeper? Thats all? How about the game that you put together atomic particles?
The only drawback that I have not using windows is now when family and friends ask help and they have winXP, I don't really have a clue how to help them, but yet they still rely on me. I just say something like, well check your settings in your control panel?
