  1. Yoga fixes it.. on Ask Slashdot: What Is the Best Position To Work For Long Hours? · · Score: 1

If you are working long hours then you need to counter balance it with exercise. I would do yoga. It will stretch the back, the wrists, the legs, feet, etc. I used to have problems bending my wrists very far but now everything is pretty flexible. If you disregard this idea because "oh exercise.." then stupid is as stupid does..

I am either using something like Netflix, or watching media I have in-house. I keep my in-house media on a NetStora server which is basically a hard drive in a standalone box which can be controlled via web or through a share. I have a wireless google tv sony blue ray player that runs an app that can read windows shares (and other types) and play the media. it can also play the subtitle file I can download (since I'm deaf). Except for this one subtitle feature, I don't necessarily recommend Google TV. Very stagnant and boring, not a fast changing environment that I thought it would be. One thing I do like is I can control the Google TV box with my android phone using a Sony app. I get my in-house content through bittorrent and use a VPN to keep out of trouble. It's not perfect but minimizes risk. Surprisingly I find myself watching netflix most of the time anyways.. :) -- Have you fscked your local propeller head today?

  10. Re:Because insurance pays for them on Ask Slashdot: Why Are Hearing Aids So Expensive? · · Score: 1

One way to help pay for expensive hearing aids is to explore your state's dept of rehab. In Texas, that's known as DARS. Through this system I was able to get a pair of top of the line hearing aids on the argument that based on salary and debt, I couldn't afford to come up with another 6 grand for yet another set of hearing aids. I ended up paying a percentage roughly 800 bucks and the state paid the rest. Their argument is that by keeping me in the "hear", I continue to contribute income to the state and stay employed. Yes, Texas doesn't have a state tax, but I spend plenty on other expenses ranging from property taxes to the toll way.

What I really really wanted when I bought my Sony Blue Ray Google TV box (and I knew I might be disappointed) was the ability to hook a web cam via USB and SKYPE using my 60 inch TV. As suspected, I was totally disappointed. I still have to hook my laptop up with wires all over the place. There's no apps for Skyping that I could find. Skype apparently has their own hardware market for Skyping from a TV and doesn't plan to share it with Google TV. Their devices cost a ridiculous amount of money for one solution only skype app in an imposing web cam. We got a long way to go..

What came first? The chicken or the egg? You see it as lifestyle choices but may not realize that the life style is being impacted metabolically behind the scenes. A person may act like a slug because they don't have energy. Its a cycle and it's hard to change. I'm a diabetic. But I exercise and eat fairly well. But when I was younger all I did was crave sugar constantly. 2/3's of my family tree going back 3 generations is diabetic. I don't think it's quite so cut and dry. To play devil's advocate, yes eating good and exercising will help tons! But it just doesn't always change the WHY of it happening.

That bartender special in New Orleans really fscked me up) and do all of this without being repaired. Technology has to be researched and developed. Also, the price includes the use of the audiologist's time and expertist often up to a year. Still, they are expensive and you either have them or you don't. I've been severely hearing impaired all of my life. I have a bag of old hearing aids. Sometimes I paid for them, sometimes I had to get financial help. I think about the expense of them and the ding they put into my retirement. Still, I'm grateful I have them. I would be pretty much deaf without them.
