I think as Apple develops further and keeps working on their current model (like it or not, their method works for them) then Apple hardware will become cheaper.
Don't you people get it? The prices are ARTIFICIAL; that means not tied in any significant way to the costs of the hardware.

Yeah, we all hate SCO and their frivolous lawsuits, but does that mean UNIX isn't stable and secure anymore?
SCOware != Unix
Linux != Unix
AIX != Unix
The IDEALS of Unix are what make Unix secure. Any idiot can easily produce a VERSION of Unix that, while adhering to the standards, is notoriously insecure. (e.g. bad default install, buffer overflows,... etc)
but so many people own handguns that don't already have safety switches, and may not be willing to get this feature, so i wonder how many lives it will save..
Hmm, tonight will be interesting - I'll spend some time getting an xp box hosed.. coz I'd really like to find out a. which software did it, and b. if it was intentional.

sheesh.
MAINLY BECAUSE YOU CAN PATCH LINUX, GIVE THE PATCH TO THE OWNER, AND HAVE THE VULNERABILITY FIXED.
Now you're gonna tell MSFT would take such a patch, rather than sue you into the ground for having the source in the first place?
You used SCO Unix recently?
Didn't think so.
