Actually I lived in Orlando for 15 years and I had no idea this even existed until reading about it on Slashdot... I'm not sure if that says more about the marketing of the service or about me as a person ;)

Seriously, I asked a number of people I know in Orlando if they knew this was even there and they have all said no.

Ahmen brother! People are acting like OS X has been announced for generic X86 boxes and it hasn't. In the end you'll still have to buy a mac to use OS X so I don't see how this changes anything. The only difference is that it'll have Intel x86 inside instead of PPC. Other than that it will be the same damn thing.

But you would only see the popup when you go to Dashboard. Widgets basically stop running when you leave dashboard and start up again when you enter dashboard. I do agree that this is a concern however. I never understood why apple sets to default "Open safe attachments" in Safari. I understand that it helps the less experienced but it also creates a bit of a security problem IMO.

This is smoke and mirrors. The canadian government is in on it too. Just look up Echelon. They have agreements with the US, UK etc. to spy on it's citizens. They are part of this globalist movement but they come out with things like this to make it appear that they are not. Next they'll be telling you that to save you from the US they need to take some of your liberty away. Just wait.. it's all coming to a neighborhood near you.

Hello! That is because they are educated BY the government in government schools!

Send your children to Catholic school and they will learn that the church is the answer to all life's problems and that when in need you can always turn to the church. Send you children to government school and they learn that the government is always right and can do no wrong even when doing wrong.

The government has an agenda and why we give our children over to them to be "taught" is beyond me. They don't need the media for their propaganda, they have the schools.. and this is further proof. They are trying to ban even the constitution and delceration of independance in some school systems because it might "offend" some one. Most students these days can't even tell you what the difference between state government and federal government is and most people in this country can't even name their congressman or tell you who they represent (you) and who the senators represent(the state)

Get rid of government schools and the teacher's union and we might see an educated America!

I just got a TWC brochure in the mail today that offers me the chance to upgrade my cable internet service to also include 8 million crappy tv channels and their tivo-like box all for just $125+tax (so $145) a month. FSCK that. I'll just watch my free air TV thank you.

Well after reading the article and the forum posts linked it doesn't look like they'll be selling the software. It looks like (from my outsider's view) that they were only creating Wish so that they could sell the underlying tech to 3rd parties to create their own games. After doing beta testing it looks like it would take more work to get it to that stage and they don't have the resources to do it. Chances are, they won't end up selling off the code and it will just go to the waste bin.

I spent hours fixing my little brother's (14 yrs old) computer. Firstly they are on dial up so that was why it took so long.. just downloading Spybot etc.

My mother told me that they had just gotten a phone bill with calls to Germany on it but they didn't know anyone in Germany and didn't make the calls.. plus no one was home when the calls were made. I told her all about dialers and the such and sure enough there were some installed on their computers.

My mother is going to retire soon and needs a computer since her computer is going back to her company. After telling her how my mac hasn't had a single popup window or spyware/adware installed on it she is now going to buy a mac. BTW after 5 hours on my brother's computer there were still things I couldn't seem to get rid of. I gave up but his computer was running a good 40% faster after removing all that crap. No lie.

Maybe they should stop the white pages and cut our rates a little.

And that is what makes the more honest players quit playing. Example, I love(d) Madden Football (not now since I'm boycotting EA). I gave away my PC to my father since I have a mac now and I got an XBOX from a friend for really cheap just to play Madden. I played online a few times and never did it again. I never played online on my PC since it always caused it to crash but on the xbox it worked well but the players were LAME. They would constantly go for it on 4to down (even if it's 4th and 25 on their own 10). I was given Halo2 and I went online once to play it and quickly left becuase of the lame people on there. I have since become bored with the xbox and am giving it away for xmas to my little brother. Screw playing online when there are so many cheesers out there.. it makes it zero fun.
