    Wow, isn't technology amazing?!

Microsoft should be *required* to send critical updates on a CD package via postal mail.

Also wonderfully enough, you can order any SP on CD for the cost of S&H! AMAZING!

Heck, XP Home comes with the firewall enabled by default, and a lot of services "locked down" (namely file sharing and the like.) There's getting to be no excuse for the masses.

It's just like anything else. You have to accept responsibilities for your actions or non-actions. And if you're going to hook your computer up to the internet, I'd say a little research and knowledge is in order. You wouldn't get behind the controls of a 747 and fly it around without fully understanding the plane and it's flight path, would you?

If you actually pick up a copy of Popular Science and read the article, they talk about making a "hybrid" system-- pulse detonation coupled with a regular jet (as found on 747's, etc.) The pulse detonation would occur on the outside of the turbines, where some fuel is wasted. The fuel is simply detonated again, providing even more power for your buck. I'm sure the noise level would be negligible, especially once one is up in the air.

Unless they're revamping the engine or something to compete with Havok's physics engine? (The one used in HL2)

There were many problems with Enter The Matrix. I had posted a few messages (non-flaming or trolling) to the Atari message boards regarding them, but they were deleted and considered "off-topic", and I am now banned from using the board.

Problems range from video (GeForce users cannot use the "focus" ability; the FPS drops to 1 or worse when it's in use) to audio (nForce2 APU users will experience feedback and echoing to death on nearly all large levels) to the game engine itself (most textures are unfiltered and look like crap, sometimes the game ignores your level of detail settings and makes round things SQUARE, sometimes you can see through things (like right through a car or plane, etc.))

I could go on and on.. it made the game pretty unenjoyable. All they had to do was release a patch, and they didn't. (The latest v1.52 patch doesn't fix crap.) Now they're coming out with a "Special Edition" next month, and it's the same game with a bonus DVD w/movie footage. Whoopty crap. Fix the game first, retards.

Atari has pretty much shown that they don't give a damn about the quality of their games or the fact that they don't work correctly.

    Just my two cents..

The problem is Sci-Fi is wasting their money on "Sci-Fi Originals" such as:

    * Tremors - Does anyone even watch this show? Holy crap it's bad.

    * Crossing Over - You might as well take a power drill to the temple of your head.

    * Dune/Children of Dune - I'm not a big fan of the original Dune movie, so I gave these a chance. They're awful. The original movie is better.

    * Riverworld - Who watched this? If you did, can you explain to me what was going on, and what the purpose of the film was? Thanks.

These sci-fi original movies haven't even aired yet, but look ridiculous:

    * Alien Hunter - The commercials make it look awful and the plot synopsis sounds like a rehash of a dozen other sci-fi flicks/shows.

    * Encrypt - Wow. A prison with a state of the art security system set in the future. Sounds an awful lot like FORTRESS. You know, the ones that did so well for Christopher Lambert.

    * Soulkeeper - I don't even have to mock this. Look at the short description from scifi.com: "A pair of thieves, hired to steal a stone that can raise the dead, go up against a Biblical bad guy who wants to use it to create an army of evil dead!" Scary!

    * Deep Shock - Environmentalists unite! One day nature will bite us back in the ass. No really!

    * Webs - Too awful for words. Eight Legged Freaks was funny because it was campy and wasn't taking itself seriously. This movie is, and isn't even slated to be a comedy.

Anyhow, maybe I'm just a little bitter over them cancelling Farscape, one of the greatest sci-fi tv shows of all time.

I contact BlackIce's tech support (who was very helpful) and they admitted they were aware of an issue with that particular security update and their software not working together, and that they would be releasing a patch soon for BlackIce.
