I don't normally pirate music, or even movies. I find it wrong. However, I do download tv shows, which or technically free if I turn on my TV when the show is on. However, I use bittorrent to download the latest episodes that I like.
It's just so damn convienent. The only thing I don't like, is that the ads are removed, call me crazy but the ads are how the shows make money. If the tv networks were wise, they would make it easy for us to download their shows with the ads so that we have a legal means of downloading the shows. It's not like it's hard to set up a tracker or anything.
I saw that FC3 was released and setup bittorrent to download the isos. I installed FC3 and it was pretty painless. Once I found this site: http://home.gagme.com/greg/linux/fc3-tips.php
and

I was able to add those features that are normally removed due to licensing. I'm definately a fan of Fedora.
If Microsoft really wanted to get rid of Linux they should do exactly what they did to Java. Create a horrible version of Linux. Release it as an easy to use Microsoft branded version of Linux but purposely cripple it. People that don't know any better will try to use it. They'll notice that it's doesn't work as good as Windows (Due to the crippling by MS) Microsoft will then say that it's not their fault, it's innate to Linux then everyone will run back to Windows and believe that Linux is innately broken just like Java.
My wife is using KDE on a pentium 233 and she's able to use it just fine. Aside from complaints that the GLMatrix screensaver is super slow on her computer. She has no problems.
I just upgraded my desktop from slackware to SuSe and it was very easy. I couldn't see how it would be hard for anyone installing it. The only problem was that I accidently screwed up my windows partition because they made the partitioning aspect to easy. I seemed like it would resize and move my partitions around and allow me to keep my home partition and my windows partition but when I did it, it died, probably by human error. Anyhow, I degress. The point is, if I wasn't trying to do anything fancy, it would of been a simple install.
Also, my wife uses my computer too and she is hardly computer literate but she's right at home in KDE and Gnome. I made a login for her. She signed onto Aim with Gaim, set up her email and went nuts with the KDE themeing. Also, I have faith that she won't be able to boch the system by pressing the wrong key. She even suggestd to her mom to install Linux.
I might be showing my ignorence but why do we need TLDs? Why can't domains be single names and go from there? It just seems like an out dated idea that isn't working. Why can't I just type http://slashdot and be done with it or at the max http://www.slashdot and that's it (although that does look weird). Why do we need all these.com,.net,.org,.museums any how? If we need them to categorize sites by type we would need an infinate number of TLDs to effectively categorize sites. Jesus, look at how many categories yahoo has for instance.
I wonder how many buffer overflow errors go unreported in windows. Closed source software may obfuscate many potential security errors that open source software make blantenly obvious. Although I'm sure it's harder to find those errors in closed source software but with so many windows applications it's hard to believe they are not there.
Get Freedos, its an opensource version of dos and works nicely with old dos apps, I don't remember their site something like freedos.org or something but they have ton of utilities on they site too

Dude, I'm in the same boat. (Well except for the grades part, I was to busy programming to care about school) I'm 21 and have been programing since probably 10. It was easy half a year ago but now it's pretty hard. Everyone is scared to hire. Most job postings never said, "Need B.S. or Higher", now next to all do. I'm stuck doing contract work now and barely getting by. You know how hard it is going to school and trying to live at the same time, not very easy.

If you're using mysql or someother DB with your Snort front end, don't forget to compile PHP with db's support. Check out snortreport, I think I remember it being pretty complete on how to install everything, even if you're using ACID, the docs for snortreport with help you set up both.
What I want to know is who uses scripting in outlook, word or anyother MS Office applications, my suggesting to Microsoft is to take the damn this out of there software and leaving in only where It would be extremely nessesary or at least make it optional in the install so no one will think of installing it unless they actually needed it.
Here is my setup. I have a roommate that hardly ever uses the computer for more then surfing, email, and IM. My main computer (750mhz, 512ram) is in my room and he doesn't really want to set on my computer and surf the internet, so what I did was get ahold of a p133, got ahold of a tv-out card. and plugged it into the TV. I used the Linux Terminal Server Project's files and turned it into a X Terminal. With Afterstep, I just put the apps he needs into the wharf and away he goes. It works just fine, since all the processing is done on my main machine, the puny p133 just has to handle the display and input. Cost me about $300-$400 dollars. Not bad for basically creating an extra machine that is the equiv to my other machine. Granted he can't play OpenGL games because it uses the machines graphics card, but who cares.
Most sysadmins don't want people installing apps on their systems without them knowing, so that is actually a bonus. Also, an even cheaper idea is using a few severs and ltsp or something and you can have an extremely cheap office set up. As a experiment, I got my hands on a p133 and X works nicely with it. The ltsp makes it real easy to set up a X window terminal workstation.
Are you crazy? You know how much power you would gain if you strip off the altenator and airconditioning system off a car and run them off of the electricity created by engine heat. I might get a nice 20 mpg with my 1972 Chevelle wahoo! heh
I wonder if the mars rover could carry terestrial lifeforms, i.e. mold, that could then start populating mars.
We're lucky, the original release date was May 6th
I've been using synergy for probably three months at work and I haven't had many problems
I've already got TV over my phone line,.. ADSL + Bittorrent :)

Or you can do it the easy way and type about:config in the location bar. Then type update in the filter
Remind me when cybernetic implants come out, to not get one. The last thing I need is a worm infecting my cybernetic arm.

How long before that thing caught fire?
Man, they've had like 4 albums since "God Shuffled his Feet", and each and every one of them were awesome.
The were also hunted into extinction.

I can still hear it. It's burned into my nuerons along with the mario brothers theme song.
